I have a tuned 2.0 CVT and I can say it completely changes the car, it is easily the best mod you can do to it. I'd get that tune and see how you like it then.

For the bashing the CVT gets, I am hard on mine and drive it like a race car. It handles whatever I throw at it and way more responsive after adding ktuner. It goes now!

When I take off from a dead stop (in S gear) taking a left or right, my tires chirp and the car goes. Trick is not to punch the gas straight to the floor, 1/4 way quick punch and once taking off, then get into it.

Yeah... the K20C2 engine inhabits the same space as the R18 or K20A3 engines. They’re base engines, made more for economy and not a lot of headroom for modding. KTuner reflashes and adjusting the VTEC crossover will help, but it’ll be an expensive fight to exceed the power levels of the old NA performance variants of the K20... because it’s not that. It is very close to a K20A3 in performance specs. A little higher compression and more efficient.

So, my take is... if you wanted a powertrain that took to mods well with a lot of support... yes. Still, you have what you have. Drop a few hundred on a KTuner V1.2 and see how you feel about the car then. You’ll make power approaching the weakest of the L15B7s... though with a completely different band. Intake and down pipe are about all that’s left. If you’re not happy with the power after the red lash though, I wouldn’t put any more into it because that’ll give pretty much all the cars going to give. You’ll have to either be satisfied with it or look to change cars. By the time you pour a lot of $$$ in the existing powertrain, you could have gotten something different, IMO.

Curious, how does your MPG change with that?

I drive a tuned 1.5 turbo but I can answer that. A tune really doesn't alter fuel economy if you drive with a light throttle. It will stay pretty close to stock during a normal commute. But, it's so much fun to get on it, you tend to drive faster than un-tuned. That's when mileage takes a nose dive.

To sum it up:
1. A tune is your best bang for the buck mod.
2. Your right foot controls how high your mpgs are.

Also i'll add that RV6 is coming out with a catted downpipe for the K20C2 too so that should also give it a nice power bump.

I think everybody all agrees the best change you can do is ktuner. I got mine tuned as well and that changed my car. It really does wake it up. And I saw somebody mentioned tires to. Mine is a manual and tires couldn’t grab. I upgraded the tires to some Z rated tires and now that thing can take off without peeling out through first gear and corners way better

I don't even know how people can get VTEC to work. Getting the car pass 3000 rpm is impossible here in Boston.

That graph is showing a stock 2.0 and after the tune. Yes the factory setting for Vtec is pretty useless. But once lowered to 5600 makes a difference on the top end. I really don’t know why Honda set it so high from the factory. I still believe it was dummied down from the factory

Maybe its just me, but there seems to be an issue when it comes to the aftermarket support for the Sport Sedan with the NA 2.0L engine. Now i have found some things, like an AEM intake, and possibly an Invidia Q300 Cat Back Exhaust, but that seems to be about it. The exhaust states that it will fit the Sport and Sport Touring and Turbo Hatchback models, but i have not been able to confirm this. Did i make a poor choice in getting the NA model? I feel like i did. Yes, i bought the car as a daily, but that shouldn't mean that im not able to have access to aftermarket parts right? I may be wrong but is the 2.0 NA that same motor as the Type R but without the obvious turbo, injectors, tune.......? Without doing the extreme things, like a motor swap, i just feel that there is to much of a lack of support for enhancing the NA 2.0. It not that im trying to make tons of power, but just enhance the daily experience some, nothing extreme.

If there are aftermarket parts, please let me know. I have not pined over this for hours on end but i have researched it and from what i can tell there are not many options. Maybe i just need to trade in my NA and get the 1.5 T model.
Ill try the KTuner out and see how it feels. Like i said im not going for anything crazy, thats what i have a 2jzgte swapped sc300 for, but I would still like the car to preform a little better.

The lack of aftermarket support does suck but overall it’s still a fun car. Not the fastest thing, but Ktuner will change your view of the car and make it more fun to drive. And intake will make it sound amazing and an exhaust is nice too. There’s also Rv6’s cat less and catted downpipe.
Are'nt the downpipes for the turbo version?

I feel and understand your pain in wishing there was more aftermarket (I had similar issues with my Honda Fit GE8)... but look at it this way: Why did you buy the 2.0 NA sport model and not the Si? Especially if you like sedan body - I’m guessing the budget was better for the sport? If you were happy with the performance stock enough to purchase the car, then you didn’t make a mistake. It’s your daily. Good choice. Now if you bought it with the dream to turn it into something between an Si and Type R, then yeah.... this wasn’t the car to do it.

Lack of aftermarket performance parts can be a blessing... there’s less parts for you to sink your money into :)
So i went with the Sport over the SI because i drive about 100 miles a day round trip for work. I live in Atlanta so traffic on the interstate is hell. I was daily driving a Sentra with a 5spd and after years of that i decided that i wanted to get an auto for daily commute. So that is why i went with the Sport over SI. I have a full fledged project car, so that is my performance car, and im not saying that i want to make 500hp in my sport, but I just want simply mods. Im gonna give the KTuner a shot and see how it feels after.

I'm guessing like everything else these days it was in an effort to maximize mpg's and help Honda with those CAFE numbers.
