Maybe its just me, but there seems to be an issue when it comes to the aftermarket support for the Sport Sedan with the NA 2.0L engine. Now i have found some things, like an AEM intake, and possibly an Invidia Q300 Cat Back Exhaust, but that seems to be about it. The exhaust states that it will fit the Sport and Sport Touring and Turbo Hatchback models, but i have not been able to confirm this. Did i make a poor choice in getting the NA model? I feel like i did. Yes, i bought the car as a daily, but that shouldn't mean that im not able to have access to aftermarket parts right? I may be wrong but is the 2.0 NA that same motor as the Type R but without the obvious turbo, injectors, tune.......? Without doing the extreme things, like a motor swap, i just feel that there is to much of a lack of support for enhancing the NA 2.0. It not that im trying to make tons of power, but just enhance the daily experience some, nothing extreme.

If there are aftermarket parts, please let me know. I have not pined over this for hours on end but i have researched it and from what i can tell there are not many options. Maybe i just need to trade in my NA and get the 1.5 T model.

K20C2 owner here.
Can say the same stuff.

The majority’s opinion (from what I have seen) says that it is not worth investing towards building performance. However, anyone who has drove a tuned K20C2 has said the exact opposite.

About two months ago, I KTuned mine to see for myself. I’m 100% confident in this engine’s future now.

I don't think so bro. That engine sounds much more reliable especially in the long run than the 1.5T. The Sport also looks sick since you guys get the HDMI exhaust now and I personally enjoy the darker Sport wheels to the Si's silver sport wheels and you also get the nicer suspension over the LX I think. One thing I noticed that you didn't mention was the Ktuner. Ktuner has support for that engine and I feel like you could get a bunch more fun out of doing something like that.

I own the LX and have LP Z rated tires. Considering it has a less handling package than the sport ? It does well with performance tires over the stock. I couldnt take corners very hard on the stock tires, now I can corner very well. Even the LX isnt too shabby.

Since your already stuck with the 2.0, get ktuner. Night and day difference.

Honestly, just get a performance drop in filter and Ktuner and the difference in power and driveability will be very noticeable. The Sport already is a nice handling car and this setup with give you better throttle response and more mid and top end power.

KTuner is the real deal. Although I have a turbo I can tell you it's a fantastic product for your 2.0 as well. Here's the dyno sheet. 22 whp and 18 wtq peak gains are impressive.

Only mistake you can make with that car is SIGNING THE PURCHASE AGREEMENT AND DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT!

jk

Honestly, the 2.0 is probably going to be more reliable in the long run. If nothing else you won't have to worry about replacing a turbo, which can cost about as much as replacing the engine.

The lack of aftermarket support does suck but overall it’s still a fun car. Not the fastest thing, but Ktuner will change your view of the car and make it more fun to drive. And intake will make it sound amazing and an exhaust is nice too. There’s also Rv6’s cat less and catted downpipe.

The 2.0 N/A engine has a compression ratio of 10.8:1, the CTR engine has a compression ratio of 9.8:1.

If you bought it because you wanted "sporty" yes if you bought it because it's well optioned and reliable than no. Do a search on the lx 2.0 mods same thing really

I feel and understand your pain in wishing there was more aftermarket (I had similar issues with my Honda Fit GE8)... but look at it this way: Why did you buy the 2.0 NA sport model and not the Si? Especially if you like sedan body - I’m guessing the budget was better for the sport? If you were happy with the performance stock enough to purchase the car, then you didn’t make a mistake. It’s your daily. Good choice. Now if you bought it with the dream to turn it into something between an Si and Type R, then yeah.... this wasn’t the car to do it.

Lack of aftermarket performance parts can be a blessing... there’s less parts for you to sink your money into :)

Fwiw, the 2.0 to me is an excellent choice. Although the OP wants to mod, not sure he got the right engine for that. But he did get a reliable and entertaining one. No Direct injection, no turbo, and lots of horsepower for a daily. I've got a manual Canadian LX, which is just so much fun. I've done some audio updates, added satellite radio and next may be a pro-kit. I think the engine in stock shape performs really well, gets great economy and sound good to boot. A Ktuner looks enticing, but the performance gains are way above the normal daily rpm levels I shift at. Only thing I really would like is a good aftermarket exhaust for the sedan with this engine. A little sportier exhaust note with a refined tip would be welcome. To the OP, it really depends on what you're looking to do. If you want to mod and spend the coin, then perhaps the 1.5 is the way to go.

The coupe is a North American exclusive, while the sedan is a global platform.
