I agree - once the honeymoon wears off all cars start to show some of their flaws. I really considered modding my car, but because it's my main source of transportation for my business it just doesn't seem like the wise move. Also, while it's clear you've had some buzzing/dash issues it seems that you're somewhat in the minority with the CTR. I guess what I mean is dash rattles are literally a meme at this point in the WRX community and here it doesn't seem as common.
I can promise you that I'm not in the minority. Make a poll in a new thread and I guarantee it'll become clear.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Part of me feels like I'll want to get two sets of wheels/tires. For winter I was leaning towards the Motegi MR924 with blizaks, but then I'm not sure what to get for daily driving? Another thought I had was to just get the Motegi MR924 and slap Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 on wear those all year round - would be sacrificing some summer time performance but it would probably be the cheapest setup. It's just hard to swallow dropping so much additional $ on wheels/tires out of the gate. The fact that you need to get something close that 60 offset makes things even harder.
I run Motegi's with the Michelin A/S 3+ for the cold months. You lose a fair amount of performance at the limits compared to the stock summer tires, and you also don't have the same kind of road feel, but the trade off is that they're much more comfortable to drive on.

Do you use the Motegis for summertime as well? If so what tires do you run then? Or are you still using stock wheels/tires for summertime?

Summer is the factory wheels/tires. They're worth almost nothing in a sale, so might as well put them to use.

I might just do that - the rattles are a big part of my frustration wtih my current car and I really felt that from what I read it wasn't so much an issue with the CTR as it's a newer platform than the WRX/STI. I've read a lot of people report decibel ratings of 74-76 db at 60-70 MPH cruise - the other day in my WRX I hit 89 db so I feel that even if there may still be *some* rattles the noise is surely less.

I'd believe that there are less. The most common ones are buzzing coming from the tweeters in the doors (fixable) and buzzing coming from under the center speaker area on top of the dash (very difficult to fix).

If you can wait till next year when more info will be release regarding the new STI(315hp of not more RUMOR) might be a better idea?

Yeah, especially with age you can start to see the economy car roots in the CTR. When accelerating at high revs (>4.5K RPM) the vibrations become very pronounced and honestly how it feels is a general reason why I shift at lower speeds.

I have rattles that I cannot figure out where they are coming from but they get annoying when I’m cruising with the radio on low.

there are definitely rattles in the CTR.

Older it gets, more pronounced it'll be. It is based off of a 20k civic after all.

I know that it's very subjective but I really can't stand the engine/exhaust note of Subaru 4 cylinders (boxer?). And the STi just amplifies it to intolerable levels (IMO, of course). Like nails on a chalkboard.
That is nuts because I feel like the boxer rumble in an STI is about the nicest a 4 cylinder car will ever sound. I actually find it even crazier someone from the Honda community will find a sound from another 4 banger platform intolerable considering how Honda's have sounded over the years but different strokes for different folks we all like different things at the end of the day.

Just want to let everyone know - I went CTR and it officially got loaded in Missouri and it's on the way to Oregon. I paid $36,680 including all dealer fees (but not registration in Oregon) and covered transpiration to Oregon is $1,700 through sweet logistics. Considering the closest Type R near me in PMM was going for 42,500 before dealer fees I think I did quite well.

Nice! Congrats on the car!

Now you get to dive into buying winter wheels and tires before it gets cold. Get some Hakkapeliitta's and embarrass some fools in the snow!
