I've tried BBG with my KTuner tune setup in the past but just felt like for my driving style (I rarely gun it off the line) I didn't need it. Switching to the TSP tune I see Derek has BBG set to 18 psi in "1st" (CVT).

Here's what I'm wondering. With the TSP tune feeling softer down low (although I know most of that is less aggressive spool and throttle), would disabling BBG in 1st and maybe setting up Advanced VSA give me a touch more part throttle go or no? Or would the low end feel be basically the same because we can't tweak throttle and spool with the TSP?

I would think it's more of a spool issue and throttle issue rather than being boost limited... One way to find out though. Do a WOT pull in first and see how quickly you hit max boost? I would think if you hit 18 PSI at relatively low RPM, then you'd have room for improvement without the boost limiter. Just talking out my butt though.

Even if you “disable “ the BBG in first it will only target what drob has it set to in “first”. This is true CVT or stick. BBG can limit boost but not override what the target is. Try it completely disabled, 29psi, and you’ll still only get 18psi on launch.

I get where you are going @gtman. I loaded up my KTuner basemap tune last Friday and the low end response is phenomenal compared to the TSP Stage 1 tune. And while fun skirting around town, the top end rush of the TSP is severely lacking in my Ktuner tune. I flashed back this afternoon to TSP....

Oops. So can we delete this topic? Blame it on the weather. It was hot yesterday and the car felt sluggish. Today was cool and all is good.

My bad.

So...you have the mystical lowend AND the topend now? No compromise?

I have a decent enough low end and a great top end tune. I realize I'm not get the mystical perfect tune without going custom.

The good news is the TSP tune saved my ass today when a guy in a VW Golf nearly t-boned my car.

This was a perfect example of why I call a tune a "safety feature". The extra power and reduced lag allowed me to power out of that near-miss accident scenario.
