People are still paying over MSRP? Wtf
Absolutely. Crazy people are still willing to pay over mrsp. I know a few dealers locally selling Type Rs above MSRP with no problem. There was 28 Type Rs at the beginning of the month now there's 20 only. The car is still very much in demand.

i was told there was a screen shot of an email from corporate Honda in regards to dealers to sell at MSRP, or else they will no longer get any more type Rs to be sent to their dealers?

Wasn’t sure what to search in the search function to find that posting.
Not true. I called Honda if there is anyway they can sway dealers to sell at MSRP. They said NO and that they don’t get involved in it. And there is no way Honda can sell you a cat directly.. tried all kinds of stuff

I'm happy with paying $6k over MSRP. I got a lot of options with it and well, it's worth more than MSRP by a large margin.

I paid the old 2019 MSRP and am even happier because I have $6k in my pocket (and didn't pay over $40k for a Civic).

There were no options for the Type R, so you got a bunch of overpriced dealer accessories.

Fuck that. I paid $1200 over the old MSRP and I'd pay $1200 over the new MSRP to not drive 850 miles.
Just depends on how you value your time. 850 miles is probably 12-13 hours of driving, plus 2-3 hours flying, plus 2-3 hours to actually get the car. You're looking at a two day trip plus gas, food, hotel, and flight to save $1200. That's probably right at the point where it's no longer worth it if you figure $100 for gas, $120 for food/hotel, $150 for airfare. 16-20 hours of your life to save $830. If you make more than ~85k a year, it's not worth it.

I flew (using points - 7500 United miles, probably worth about $150), picked the car up, and drove ~600 miles to save $5k.

Basically took an entire (very full) Saturday, 16 hours or so. But I value my time at less than $650k/yr (unfortunately), so it was well worth it.

Yes, and I'm happy with the accessories as I would have gotten them anyway. Remember, while the prices might be over and above, they do include labor charges. I love my CF spoiler, my pin stripes along the sides, CF interior panels, my interior lighting, tinted windows, and my black wheel locks. I even paid $800 extra for the roof spoiler.

What "options" did you get that you were happy with for $6,000?
I've included them.

Look a lot of people don't like the over MSRP costs for the car, but the car (IMO) is really undervalued. It easily beats the Golf R, Focus RS, and STi RA. If the car was $42k MSRP (with all the options I got), I think they'd still sell the cars like hotcakes. It's just that good of a car.
