Who here has had a GenX Si for a short time, but has either traded or thinking of trading it in?

After new tranny at 30k miles and within 1 week clutch now slipping I'm a little annoyed with the car lol. Just wanted the clutch to be able to handle 19-23 ktuner tune without needing to be upgraded so soon. That's why I didn't go with tsp stage 1 knowing it would need a clutch sooner then later. Want a Golf R with dsg. Doubt that's gonna happen with me owing more than it's worth by a couple thousand. Figured I'd throw out my experience n why I wanna swap lol

I had an 18 Si tuned on Ktuner w/ TSP stage 1 and traded it for a 19 Accord 2.0t (10 speed auto) and have not regretted it. (yet) :D

If you had $40k in your budget and spent a little more than 1/2 on the Si... why not get a used toy? 370zs power train is unchanged through 10 years. The last 2 years of the 350z had the HR engine and wasn’t too far behind and those should be going for well under $10k. Used MX5s are everywhere. Hell... I bet you could get into a LS1 C5 for what you’d have left. No reason to not get a frivolous fun car on top of a reasonably priced reliable new car.

^ This is the best advice.
Or even trade/sell your Si and get 2 cars - one for fun, one for reliability.

I had two Subaru STIs before trading mine in for this Si. The last STI I had was top of the line with every option, and was about $41k. Absolutely 10000000x more of a sports car than my Si, but I actually disliked this because I daily drive and have crappy traffic, and I got tired of the road noise, harsh suspension, low gas mileage etc.

What I'm kinda wishing I did now was sell my STI and get something reliable like an old Accord for $6,000 and then see what used sporty car I could get for about $30k.

Drive the best at what you can afford and be happy, then mod or dont mod. My 2019 Si was the second choice, the 2019 Miata RF was my first. The cost difference was $4k+, BUT then I modded my Si for $4500 and I m still not done. I want a a new grille, intercooler and CAI. I am not unhappy with my choice, the car is GREAT, but I wished I had "test" driven several other vehicles like the GTI, WRX,.. then I would have felt more satisfied with my decision. My neighbor has TWO 2018 Corvettes (he wont let me "take either for a spin"). Test rode stock racing Mustang GTI, it made me LOVE my Si even more.

OR

Ignore this and do what charleswrivers recommends, I would do it but a my fun vehicle would be an electric bicycle with what I can afford.

So far no trade has been appealing enough to give up my '17 SI.
New Michelin Pilot 4S tires did help make it feel more special. No other mods. Yet.

Yes, I have considered trades, and even test driven some other options both before and after I bought my SI.

Still have the SI, not planning on changing that any time soon.

I’ve thought about trading mine since about 6 months after getting it. I trade up frequently though. I was dead set on a Grand Cherokee or Cx-5 and now the Honda Passport or accord 2.0 sport. Love the accord 2.0 sport most out of those but wanting the suv for light towing and large stuff for the house. Only reason I haven’t traded is I will go from a 300 payment to a 400 payment and let’s just say I’m a cheap mofo.
My wife drives the new cx5 and I can tell you, it looks a lot more expensive especially on the interior than what it is. But they are not very big on the inside (in fact we take my Si sedan with the kids more bc of the better leg room). Also they are pretty gutless, even the 2.5T models are mehhh. It’s a nice vehicle, don’t get me wrong but I wouldn’t purchase one again. I feel there are better options out there!

I bought one of the first couple hundred 2017 Si's made (VIN ended in 00171) for sticker price ($24,775 + TT&L). It was vandalized several months later and had a door replaced. I traded it in about a year later for $22,200 for a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0T 10AT.

The Accord was faster and larger, but not as fun to drive, not as economical, the audio system didn't sound as good, and I really missed the LSD, adaptive dampers, and shifting on my own.
I have had the Si/Accord Sport 2.0 MT debate in my head for about a year. There are many things to like about the Accord (faster, better infotainment, more room for stuff), but I just prefer driving a smaller, nimbler car. I drove an Optima for a few years when I was married but couldn't wait to get back into a smaller car (my current Jetta). But you mentioned the Accord is not as economical. I've been gaming it out, and it seems like even with lower mileage you come out ahead or at least close to even on fuel costs in the Accord, assuming you use 87 in the Accord versus 93 in the Si (which is about 50c a gallon more here). But I'm basing it on EPA numbers. Is it your impression that one of the cars either under performs or over performs EPA, having driven them both?

BTW, a couple interesting Accord 2.0 MT reviews lately. Savagageese, which Amirza mentioned, and Throttle House, where they compared the Accord to the GLI. Thomas was somewhat negative about the Accord too. He said something to effect of, "We can all be for saving the manuals, but we really should focus on saving the GOOD manuals, which the Accord isn't." He and James put the GLI well ahead. But even though my current Jetta has been great (I just miss driving stick), I don't want to take my chances on a GLI.

Yeah, I love the interior and the exterior looks the least feminine to me of the smaller crossovers. I did notice the interior and back was pretty small kind of defeating the point. Haven’t driven one but I assumed the base motor to be ok around town but not inspiring. Looked at the turbo model but at 35k+ I just think it’s too much for that vehicle and only 2k tow capacity with that motor. Thanks for posting up your thoughts on it.

My 2017 Civic Si averaged 34.1 MPG. My 2018 Accord averaged 25.4 MPG. Both of these numbers are very close to what other owners are reporting on Fuelly.

Using today's national average prices of $2.59 and $3.156 per gallon in New Jersey for regular and premium gasoline, respectively:

The Accord costs 10.2 cents per mile while the Civic costs 9.3 cents per mile. So, the Civic is more economical even considering the extra cost of premium gasoline.
