If that means them taking apart your transmission and putting it back together, I’d be very careful with that. When I went through this fiasco with my car, they tried to do this and it only got worse. It stopped grinding in 2nd, but grinded every single time going into 5th and 6th gears no matter what I did. That may be what you want though if you’re trying to get a complete replacement; they ended up doing a whole new transmission, clutch, etc. on mine.
Yea I'd love that followed by a completely new transmission. At least it meant they're trying lol. They won't even do anything right now.

Can you guys shed some light on the circumstances when this actually happens? It's starting to happen to me. So if I accelerate hard in 1st gear and take it to about 6k rpm, if I try to shift quickly, it'll grind. And that's with me slamming that clutch pedal to the floor before I move that shifter.

If I granny shift, it goes in no problem.

Someone on did replace this on fk8 said it's solved the grind problem.....any member here did the same? If it's can fix the issue.i definitely consider the replace hybrid racing cmc kit.
I saw the OEM CMC is different (exterior) I need to compare the mounting holes and see if is possible to install.

The grinding issues are the synchro's , all the mods helps, but doesn't solve the problem for complete , I have cable bushing , Slave clutch cylinder valve delete, Acuity fully adjustable shifter, CMC gap pedal adjusted, all improved a lot, is very weird if I have a grind right now, but the grind still there, sometimes if I do a turn and go 1th gear to 2th gear flooring to the redline and go fast to 2th gear I usually have the grind , or sometimes when the transmission is cold ( fist time in the morning ) shifting 1 to 2 gear very slow a soft I have the grind , but changing all the shifting habits barely have a grind.

I would like to try this CMC, is the last one for do. I have 19.000 miles and the grind was there since I bought the car from brand new. In the beginning didn't notice because I was driving like old lady, trying to set properly all the mechanical components.

I adjusted the rod on my CMC and it shifts infinitely better now. At least for me.
Same with me. It's butter smooth after adjusting my CMC rod.. no more notchiness. I've got about 1/4 to1/3 inch of Freeplay after the adjustment. It feels like an entirely more refined transmission.

My clutch catching point has moved away from the floor.. it's fairly close to the fully engaged position so I think I'll add a bit (maybe 1/2 turn) more Freeplay back after driving for a bit.

Note: I only had 1 gear grind at 300 miles (Currently at 2k miles) so my car may not have been as prone to the issue as other cars but I definitely love this adjustment in terms of feel.

I think Honda might have added so much Freeplay as a safety precaution to prevent premature clutch wear (for those who ride the clutch a little bit.). If you do, I would keep a bit of Freeplay or adjust your shifting style (preferably).

I used the same instructions from the S2000 Freeplay video.

2019 Sport Touring here... also experiencing the crunch (not horrible, and definitely not a grind). Found that firmly flooring the clutch pedal improves things, but not always. Came off 8th gen and the disengage point on that car was much higher... so I'm reprogramming myself a bit. Will remove slop from CMC rod and hope things will improve. Cheers.

This also worked for me too. Makes sense that it can prevent people from riding the clutch. but I also think the 1/4 inch shouldn't wear it out too much quicker.

it’s not going to wear any quicker because of the self adjusting slave cylinder. This adjustment is eliminating the dead space before the clutch starts to disengage. You can test this by pushing the slave cylinder by hand. If you can still move fluid you’re good

Perfect! yeah... once I hit resistance I backed the rod out slightly from the CMC. I am good.

Random question - when you guys lightly with barely any pressure tap the clutch pedal, does it feel like there's nothing stopping you? Like no resistance? Is that the freeplay everyone has been adjusting through the CMC or CMC rod?

Yes, It's a very very light pressure. You can use a pinky finger and depress the pedal. Depending on how far it depresses, that's your Freeplay.

I have experienced some 2nd gear grinding too, with 3 instances over 2000 miles driven since purchasing a 2019 in Feb. Did not experience this in various other quality Honda experiences of owning from my 93 NSX, or 99 SI, or 04 S2k. Honestly and maybe its just me- while I adore the FK8- I am a touch disappointed that the Type R shifting not at least as slick feeling IMHO as the ap2 s2k... that was my fave Honda transmission and I was optimistic a 2019 type R would recreate or beat that feeling from 2004... I can’t say that has happened. Oh well. No such thing as a perfect car; meanwhile, the type R is pretty amazing and perhaps as good as it gets < $40k. And, if Honda has a fix for us it would only exponentiate loyalty.
Interesting- over the last 4000 miles, I haven't had anymore grinds. Are others noticing that as the vehicle gets broken in about 10,000 miles the transmission is much smoother? For those with over 10k, what are your experiences or thoughts?

Honestly... since I altered my CMC rod... I have had no issues at all.

I have 30k on my 18 type r and it grinds or gets locked out maybe 5 times. I just had my fluid changed everything was clear.
