Similar issue. Called Geico from dealer. She kept telling me the VIN was incorrect. Just in case my paperwork was wrong I verified it right from the car. Finally she put it through. But now it shows up on my account as an EX not a Touring. I've had Geico a long time but I just got a quote from Liberty Mutual that's much less. So I'll be switching soon.

I actually got the same issue for my insurance because the mistake from the dealers were that the vin number and paperwork for that vin number were different. I got a call from Honda; they asked me if i had insurance for the vehicle and I said yes and gave them my policy number. a week later i get a notice from the DMV saying they'd suspend my license if my vehicle wasn't insured. The fix was easier on the insurance side by changing vin numbers on the policy.

I know its kind of irritating and irrational how problems like these occur, but don't let it ruin your experience from a new vehicle. Stay positive.
I came from a 2000 civic DX fresh out of high school that got broken into 3 times.
I had to pull up my window to close(manual window regulator broke), no radio, no AC.

Got my car 2-3 weeks ago and the policy went up $177.00, they told me the were not able to locate my VIN# and put the car in by the Value. Anyone having problems with the insurance company not being able to find the car? Mine was assembled 05-16
When I bought my sedan in December mine my insurance couldn't find my vin either.

How long did it take for them to find the vin#?
@knq it is insured, but prorated at the MSRP of 23,135.00 which makes it a lot more expensive.

Hi ichii, I've had issues with my VIN# and insurance company as well. Below is a summary of my experience in case it helps. Perhaps the misidentification of trim levels relate to car value.

The VIN on my vehicle specifies the equipment trim level as a Touring (8th Number = "9"). The quote, application, and temporary slip provided by my broker (Inova) aligned with this system. However, the official policy documents from the insurance provider (Scottish & York) changed the trim to an LX. This is on all of the documents including the certificate and car slip. My broker has reached out the insurance provider to clarify and they were told that the trim cannot be changed as is it automatically generated using the VIN number. They reassured me that it has been notated on my file and that my documents should work as they stand.

YES. I have gone back and forth with my insurance guy. At first he listed me as a LX four door, called again and now I'm listed as an EX four door. Apparently the EX-T two door isn't in their system and he can't adjust it at the moment. Insane imo.

Did you just get your coupe too? insurance lady told me it may take a few weeks. Gonna try and call back by the end of the month, said they would refund me the $177 if the premium goes back down to what it was before.

Mhm, a week ago today. Mine is quoted at $153 with the ex four door. Not sure how much it'll change when it's on there correctly but we'll see!
