Weight reduction for the FK8

Tend to believe that the only thing truly worth it and noticible for a DD is reducing unsprung. However at the same time you must be sure that you aren't altering the suspension geometry enough in doing so to offset any benefits gained if that makes sense. Maybe reducing battery weight and a titanium exhaust/dry carbon fiber paneling($$$). I'd be surprised to see if someone could get in the 2ks with a driver, much less with a passenger to mutually enjoy the lighter weight without completely mangling the car. As stated before you're almost better off going on a diet lol

If just drag racing or street driving it probably won’t matter

I've had that happen to me on the street two times. Both times I was taking a 35mph recommended speed exit ramp at 75mph right after the fuel light came on...

Man, Seibon has soooo many carbon fiber parts for our car now ! When I win the lottery or became ruler of a country or figure out how to sell people regular air for thousands of dollars per bottle, I'm definitely gonna buy one or two pieces lol
Just be careful out there people. Some wet CF parts are even heavier than OEM !

For those looking for a lighter weight battery, but want daily driver reliability, check out the Odyssey PC925.

I've been running these in my STi for about 10 years now with no issues. Getting 3-5 years of life out of each. No problems with TEXAS cold mornings, etc. until they start to run out of life.

Not a featherweight battery, but a lot lighter than most full size batteries.

Make sure you check for your correct pole positions (+/-) and get the posts for the terminals... but here's a general link:

Things that I didn't see mention in this thread:

Horn: reduce down to 1. Cost: free.
Remove the brake rotor backing plates. I don't know if those are welded on or bolted on, but either way they can go. Cost: free.
Stainless steel brake lines might be lighter than OEM rubber ones. I just changed it on my other car and it is lighter. Cost: ~$150
Use zip tie to secure those light weight batteries. Whatever battery tie down you buy would still be heavier than a zip tie. Won't pass tech inspection if you track or autocross though. Cost: 10 cents.
Don't carry a full tank of washer fluid.

I'm with you other than the zip ties. I don't think most zip ties are made of plastic which can withstand being heat cycled repeatedly.

Nor would I want to trust it even on the street. I've seen what happens when a battery hits both terminals on the frame. Not pretty

That's fair. There's a reason why that doesn't pass tech inspections

Mine is been place with the stock tie bar on top of extra insulation, works fine.

THis is what I'm running. The only issue I had was the fact that the battery dies when you don't drive the car for more than a week. I got around that by buying a Ctek battery tender.
