Ha ha ha I'm nowhere near a lefty just because I live in CA. I'm not a Dem nor a Repub, both are full of shit, and I sure as fuck don't watch faux news, thats for sure. I'm confident enough of my manhood that I don't need to carry around to prove I have a big dick (size 9 if want to know)

That's what they do, they run from arguments calling people lefties to escape logic. Anyway Sorry the OP got robbed, hopefully you will be whole again, and you didnt get hurt and have to shoot someone over a material possession that can be replaced and you can live with yourself

I would like to take a couple of serious issues with statements like "cars can be replaced."

First, using the passive voice as in "be replaced" is an euphemism. Stolen and wrecked cars are not "being replaced" by the Lord's Providence, even though an insurance company may be called something like this, but it's you, me, and other insured people who pay for your car "being replaced."

Second, I pay with my lifetime to buy my property. Most people spend most of their time working when they aren't sleeping, so they pay with a part of their life for their cars. Same with houses. I could be wasting less of my lifetime on work if I didn't need to buy a car or a house. They say houses with all that's inside them also can "be replaced". But the part of my life spent working to pay insurance premiums can't be replaced.

So, is the property worth defending? Mine is. Like always, to a reasonable extent, and it's everyone's own judgment.

Btw. If I was in the OP's shoes, it would probably end up exactly the same way, because I don't carry any weapons, currently. If I lived in Baltimore and thought it's risky to wash the car without a backup, I would rather have my wife with a rifle looking out through a window. Or better she would be washing the car while I would be drinking beer in a window while giving her a cover with my AK47. But saying "cars can 'be replaced' " sounds thoughtless to me.

So sorry to hear what happened to you. Hopefully the insurance company does right by you without a lot of BS. Many years ago I had a car stolen from me when I lived in San Diego, the only reason I got it back was they quickly ran out of gas. It was a Datsun B-210 Coupe in immaculate condition which I had installed a locking gas cap. They had broken out all the locks, smashed the steering column and vainly tried to pry out the locking gas cap. They failed and it took $500 to repair all the damage at the local dealership. When I got it back the radio station was on a Spanish speaking station and I don't speak Spanish. Otherwise my car would have ended up in Tijuana being chopped up for parts. The car was found about mile or two away from where I lived at the time.:)

Edit: My Datsun B-210 was a 2 door sedan with leather interior, brown metallic paint with chrome bumpers, and automatic bought from the original owner with low miles and unfortunately I did not treat the engine as well as I should have at the time and I put a bunch more miles on it.

100%

Unfortunately, victim mentality is the in thing right now as is cowering in fear and waiting for the police. These criminals look for victims, not a fight and that's usually what they get. A lot of the posts on this thread were honestly, just sad.

Things can be replaced. Lives cannot be replaced. Make sense to you, yet?
No one is guaranteeing that material goods will be replaced, but at least the possibility is there. Unlike the possibility that you will rise again from the dead.

Yeah, no idea why mods aren't locking threads like this. This is a car enthusiast forum. Keep the political crap out.
