If you want the best quality with ease of use and flexibility to download videos over WiFi or have them upload to cloud via a Hotspot, then Blackvue hands down. I've got the DR900 4k front and rears.

Here's some sample video:

Any recommendation for a dash cam the senses motion like a house security cam? Came out to this this morning. Melted through the little vent holes at the bottom of the windshield and onto the ground. Spent 20 minutes soaking the car with a garden hose to try and make sure none was left there. And the vents were all cleaned properly.

I use a GoPro suction cup mount with my GoPro Hero 7. I turn stabilization off to save battery life. I use 4k@30fps in order to capture license plates (2.7k or less was not enough definition to capture the license plate I found). The idea of hard-wiring a dashcam in my CTR was out of the question for me, I don't like the idea of ripping out my interior for the install. Other folks who are more handy might not have that problem, but for me, I just don't like ripping out my interior for wiring or modifications in general.

Unfortunately I DID NOT have it running when a junker car ran me off the road last month, forcing me to scuff my passenger side front rim in order to avoid them side-swiping me. Since then, I stopped being lazy and ALWAYS have it recording for every single trip.

I've not tried it yet, but I want the Waylens Horizon. https://waylens.com/
Currently running an inexpensive one from Amazon I think I paid $49 for it. Search for Anker Roav DashCam A1. Glare is horrible in this video, but gives you an idea of the quality.

That's why I am looking at a system that is self contained, permanently installed, and runs all the time.
Set it and forget it, till you need it.

"SOD's LAW" will be that the one time you forget to run it manually, will be the one time you need the video it did not capture.
