It’s time to let the cat out of the bag!

As many have noticed, our site has listed the 1.5T Civic intercooler & charge pipe upgrade kit out of stock over the past few weeks. What we haven’t released, though, is that our team has been working hard over the past few months to develop an intercooler and charge pipe upgrade that now appeals to virtually anyone!

Our new intercooler upgrade will now utilize billet end tanks, much like our Civic Type-R version, as well as a slightly larger 25.6 x 4 x 6.3” bar-and-plate 550+ horsepower intercooler core to increase frontal surface area by 6% for cooling and internal airflow by 15% for increased airflow volume in comparison to our previous intercooler upgrade. This kit will also be available WITHOUT charge pipes, as this kit is compatible with factory charge pipes by using our machined billet aluminum adapter pieces provided with our kit. Customers can purchase our charge pipe kit separately, or pair them together as a combo to save $50.

Our charge pipe kit still utilizes the same smooth flowing, larger inner diameter hot (1.50" factory compared to 2.00") and cold-side (1.5" factory compared to 2.5") for increased airflow and factory diameter hot-side outlet to aid in turbocharger spool. This kit is ONLY compatible with our intercooler upgrade due to the machined billet aluminum adapter pieces.

We expect to fulfill orders later on the fall season. Stay tuned for more pictures, details, data and information over the next few weeks!

Very cool! But no longer compatible with stock ducting? Does it require trimming the ducting like with Mishimoto?
This will require minor modification or removal of the factory air guide(s) to fit this larger unit.

This has me really interested... I have mostly PRL stuff on my Si so far, save for the Agency Power intercooler I am running... which I am happy with except that I had to trim the factory ducts off and there are no replacement ducts provided.

PRL, why the jump from 3.5" to 4" deep IC core? I thought that for a given IC size you want height not depth, for frontal surface area. The AP IC is a 3.5" deep core but about 6.6" tall vs 4" by 6.3" for yours.

I'm wondering if this would make sense for my Si that otherwise is stock save for a Stage 1 PRL intake.

Generally speaking billet end tanks are better than cast because they flow ever so slightly better. Smoother surfaces. If you were to smooth out a casting like that it would be even more $$$...

Thanks for inquiring with us! The deeper core intercooler will in fact help flow a higher volume of air. You are limited in the space you have to work due to the bumper beam so a taller core has trouble fitting is why we went this route. Any additional performance upgrades that assist in cooling are recommended with the new civic as it is prone to heat soak so this will benefit your car quite a bit. :)

Thanks for the reply! I didn't even think of it in the context of flow through the core but that makes sense, I was thinking purely from a frontal surface area standpoint for exchanging heat.

So, any official word on pressure drop? I would assume less than stock due to the better flow, but it never hurts to see if there's actual concrete data associated with testing.

I may have to kick the Agency Power unit to the curb... :hmm:

Will it be possible to use the new pipes (or at least the one with the sensors) with the older version of the intercooler?

Will this come with new air guides like in the render? Or do we just trim the stock ones? Definitely interested in this!

We have yet to test anything, as we have only released renderings and basic information. However, we will be test fitting today, and collecting data over the next couple of weeks as we push our prototype pieces. However, though the core dimensions have increased a bit, the fin-pitch/density is still similar to our previous version, so we expect similar results to our cast end-tank version, but with a bit better performance when truly being pushed to to the max and possibly with spool (as seen with our CT-R version).

Will it be possible to use the new pipes (or at least the one with the sensors) with the older version of the intercooler?
We have not changed our charge pipe kit dimensions/fitment from our previous version. The new intercooler, though, will be compatible with our previous version's charge pipe kits if anybody wishes.

This will come standard with air guides and require minor trimming/bending of the factory air guides for fitment.

Pre-Orders are now live!
Welp, PRL has been so good to me in the past (funny enough I actually found you guys when I was looking for an NPT to BSP adapter, I was putting an oil pressure gauge in my Toyota Tacoma!!) so I might as well go for it. :)

Our team has been busy machining and welding our first batch of billet intercooler upgrades over the past few days - we couldn't be any happier with the finished product. Unfortunately, due to a few minor last-minute revisions, the original ETA has been pushed back about 1.5 weeks to 11/27/19 to ensure proper fitment. There are still a few spots left in the first batch, so order yours while you can!

See I was about to get all cranky that I wasn't gonna be able to put this on for another week or two but you post these pictures...

And the dash numbers for the O-rings and everything!! Dude, the engineering that went into this is awesome. I'm so happy I went with PRL.
