As the title says, I got the Oil dilution TSB done a few months ago. I drive 100 miles a day minimum so the miles rack up quickly. Other than the factory fill I have done all my own oil changes except for this one. On all my changes (Pennz Plat and M1 Extended) I have stuck with 0W20 with no visible raise on the oil level.

Did my oil change today and almost a gallon came out of the sump! It didn't stink like gasoline so my guess is that the jack holes at the dealer popped in almost 5 quarts of oil....

Or on the other hand maybe they put 4 quarts in almost a quart in dilution? Hard to believe as I've never had this much oil come out after a change and that is BEFORE the TSB

I actually stopped pouring the oil in as I thought it was going to overflow.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thoughts?

I would guess they just put too much oil in if you don't smell the gasoline. I had that issue on my lawn mower once and the oil reeked of gasoline. See what happens next time.

Maybe the jackass put in the right amount of oil for an Oil & Filter change, but did not change the filter !! It's SCARY who gets to do Oil Changes at Dealers !!!

I think you already know the answer .. "If you want the job done right, do it yourself."

Unfortunately, if you let someone else do it, these days you almost HAVE to go around afterwards, and check that they did it right !!

So, may as well do it yourself, and know for sure EXACTLY what you are getting.
Often quicker in the long run, and mostly far less expensive as well.

Could be worse, they could have just done a Brake job !!!

You're nowhere near filled up in that gallon container. A full gallon is 4 quarts. Where are you coming up with 5 quarts?

supposed to have 3.7 quarts that looks like about 3.7 quarts or maybe a little more are you sure try measuring it into a proper measuring device.

Have you checked your oil level during those 6k miles? Ideally, you should’ve drained around 3.2-3.3qts

Yeah, looks like a case of confusion between 5 quart oil bottles and 1 gallon windshield fluid bottles...

And this is why you need to pay attention to simple math in school kids......duh....That's exactly what it is....for some reason I had the 5 quart jug on my mind when I was dumping the oil...doh

My apologies to the jack-holes at the dealership as apparently I am King of the Jack-holes :rolleyes1:

Well if there is a silver lining, I guess if there was any dilution it was minimal...I did check the level quite a few times and it did read above the line but I guess that is because they put in a full 4 quarts during the change (they did change filter as well)

Sorry for the false alarm guys :(

I use painters measuring cups for changing my oil, and try to measure out the 3.7qts. theyre really cheap to buy
