I called Honda about their thin cheap crappy paint. They said in order for them to do anything I have to go to a dealership, which of course isn't going to do any good. I feel like this paint scratches if you sneeze. It's terrible. At first I thought it was just because it was red and everything shows up better, but I should not have so many scratches and chips when I've owned the car less than a month. They're in the wheels too. Has anyone spoken to a dealership or Honda customer service about this? I feel like in a few years I'll need to pay for a good quality paint job which is total BS because it shouldn't be this fragile. Kinda outraged that they wouldn't step the quality up for such an expensive vehicle.

I'm old... let me get that out of the way. I've owned a ton of cars. My last two cars were an Elantra GT and Forte SX. I thought the paint on those cars was average at best. But they were like a Bentley compared to the Civic in terms of resistance to chipping. If you look at the paint wrong, it chips. And you better damn well get the bird turds off the paint QUICK or it will etch in. Absolute garbage.

I lost count at how many rock chips are on my car truth be told. My RAV4 despite being 12 years older doesn't seem to have any (it does have cosmetic damage from the previous owner but looking for chips I'm really not finding any).

I didn't believe my friend when he told me the paint chips easily. At this point in time, every body panel on the car has at least 1 chip. Part of me wants to just repaint the damn thing entirely using 3rd party paint and primer.

So many chips and dings and micro scratches everywhere you closely look. Orange peel, forget about it lol.

The gloss black paint on my front bumper around the emblem is already bubbling. Only have 1000 miles on the car, so it’s going in on a Friday to get looked at.

Was the roof worth it? I was thinking about it but thought it was bit excessive

i've been burned, pun intended, by bird poop on the roof of my old TL. Permanently etched into the clear coat. I just had it done for the peace of mind.

Also cause at the time i was thinking about getting a roof rack for my bikes, which never happened.

That actually happened my 16 STI. Couldn’t believe how cheap the paint is on Subaru’s too. It’s water based and not oil based like German cars

It’s a $35K car, but it has the same paint quality as a base model civic. The glass is cheap too. Doesn’t take much to chip it.

True. But, I guess it's all relative. At $25K I feel like my EX-L's paint quality should be better, too. I've owned many cars over the years, Honda, Acura, GM, Hyundai, Kia ... and none of them has ever chipped or scratched like this Civic.
