This is really intriguing. Good job, man. Talk about lucking out and finding a near color match, too. Did you do the install yourself? If so, how anxious were you taking off the stock hatch and putting on the R hatch?

My son and I did it. I was a little concerned because we couldn’t find anything online to help us with the inevitable pitfalls. He on the other hand wasn’t concerned. . The re and re wasn’t too bad.

Finally got the stays. As expected, they are roughly 3 inches shorter

I prefer OEM parts but was sticker shocked by the cost of the FK8 spoiler. Started looking online and came across a wrecked unit. Seller was asking $800 for the spoiler or $1200 for the entire hatch. No brainer.
was getting my oil changed the other week, and just for shits and giggles, me, my service advisor and dealership manager went and looked up just what a new OEM Type R wing costs. Just the wing, no hatch. It is bought in many individual pieces and then assembled into one unit. You are right, it’s shocking. In 2018 it was nearly cdn$10k, but this year it’s now a steal at around cdn$5k  :nono:

Sorry, are you saying the dealer wants $5000 for the FK8 spoiler??

Not what the dealer wants, it is the price! I’m guessing there is likely near zero demand for individual FK8 parts so soon after hitting the market.

That said, 5k for a spoiler is obviously ridiculous and likely a system generated price. I started to put it together and just gave up due to the mounting prices as I assembled the components. This is why I started to look for used parts and happened upon the salvaged FK8. $800 for the spoiler or $1200 for the hatch again was a no brainer.

FYI, popped the struts on last night and the hatch works perfectly.

Nice! I like that because you did the whole hatch you get those top diffusers instead of the little top spoiler. The big wing looks better that way IMO, as it's too busy with the big wing, and the top, and the mid spoiler.
