The reason their so cheap in your area is because of all the traffic!;)
That or, the car simply isnt worth what owners think its worth. Ive seen lots of people from all over try to get 34 or 35...it dont happen they give up trade at the 31 to 33 area. Its all its worth used.

Nope. Its basic supply side economics. Here on the west coast, Type R's are scarce and the prices are HIGH. On the East coast, people are un-willing to keep the car for the winter season and the "new shiny" toy has lost its luster. A ton have shown up on the used market on the East Coast, and prices started high because of initial values were high. The price increase also pushed prices higher.

Carvana is buying 2018+ Type Rs on the west coast for a premium, a friend just let his blue one go for 35K too Carvana.

I know that is why in my first response I put in my area :) california is its own economic anomaly :) hell if I had time and the money I would come here buy cars and bring them there and sell them. If you owned a flat bed how much money in gas would it take to drive to NC and buy one new for Msrp and then drive it back there and sell it for 42k? I could do that all week long LOL. The things are sitting everywhere in the southeast.

How long ago was that? Which Carvana (city) was it sold to? Thanks for any info that you can provide.

well here is the first 3 of about 30 on carvana for 33k not sure where they are buying them for 35k and then selling them for 33k. But more power to any if they can get 35k. But 31 to 34 is the norm for trade 34k for 19s.... 31k for 17s and 31k to 32k for 18s. I can show you hundreds of used Rs selling for under 34k why would anyone pay over that for it? I know there are isolated areas that pay higher but 95% of the country its gonna be in these areas of trade.

IM not dogging on anyone but I just went through it. I literally went to 17 dealers all over 3 states and 31k was the highest I was offered and that was pulling teeth. If I asked for more they simple said not interested. Same thing for my 3 friends who all sold their as well and theirs were 18s and one 19. The 19 got 32k no dealer would go above that. IM sure in Southern California you can get a bit more but like I said that is a different ecosystem there. :)

Could be worse...imagine paying dealer markup twice and having two sets of car payments which are far upside down.

One of his are paid off. He just has to find the best offer he can get. A few months left in the year to figure it out.

Alternatively, he does have a nephew who would appreciate the gift and is not picky at all about color.

This is true for my area too. Carvana has a bunch of Type R's for sale. I'm interested to see how the used prices look this time around next year when the 20' year model drops. I wonder if dealers will still have leftover 19's when the 20's come out.

gjurrens: I think the offer you got for $35K was very reasonable. I just bought a brand new one for $36.6K. Why would I pay more for a used one? I doubt you will recover the cost of the $2.5K dealer "add-ons". And as you note, this isn't necessarily a popular color. Very few, if any, other current cars lose so little value initially, so count your blessings, take your loss and grab the $35K and run!

Honda is really cranking these things out. I feel like when everyone realized they wouldn't be as rare as initially thought, trade in value took a nosedive. Here in Jersey, i got a quote from carvana just for the hell of it. 2019 with 3800 miles. $32k is all they could offer.
