8th was my favorite but I was younger then. Shorter wheel base made it so nimble. I remember the seats holding me in place better in the corners, and god the motor and the sound. Screamed to be run and run hard and I swear it screamed at me every time, is that all you got b? I don’t hear that from this one, ever. It burned oil like a champ though.

10th feels way faster to me even though it isn’t. It’s a little different at first w the turbo but I’ve grown to love the low end power on the commute and normal every day driving. It’s just different in a way but also the same. It’s a hell of a lot more refined now but to me still has a little rawness to it. Imo, it’s just the best bang for your buck out there by a long shot if it’s the type of car you want. And the gas mileage is absolutely unbelievable for something this much fun to drive.

Coming from an 8th gen Si as well, it all is going to come down to how the car feels. I always said my 8th gen was like a little kid who just drank a Redbull. It's a car that just wants to be driven hard every damn second of the day and it just makes you want to rev out to 8k every single gear. I'd agree with the others that the 86/BRZ is going to feel the closest to the 8th gen. I surely loved driving it. However, as everyone else says - it just feels gutless.

I ended up grabbing a 10th gen because I thought it was a much more mature car. I miss the 8k redline for sure, but I find myself more often than not, being extremely surprised at my speedometer when I push the car even the slightest amount. The 10th gen can be a calm daily driver when you want it to be, and a fun car when you press that sport mode button and hit the gas pedal. Fuel economy is much better, the chassis feels significantly better, the brakes feel much more powerful and cornering is much more impressive compared to the 8th gen. I wouldn't get concerned over the size of the 10th. It definitely is a bigger car and feels that way in terms of sizing, but I haven't noticed any difference in weight.

If you are interested in mods, there is going to be a much bigger aftermarket for this car as time goes on. I also find it is EXTREMELY easier to work on this car than my 8th. Everything is so much more accessible. I have gone back and driven my friends 8th gen and even with his having a flashpro and bolt-ons, I think I would still pick my 10th over the 8th. However, if you throw the 86/BRZ into the mix, I would pick the 86/BRZ for a more pure driving feel.
