Issue 1:
So I don't really drive my Type R hard and it has never been to the track so at 19,000 mostly HWY miles I am learning of the transmission issue a little late. I thought I wasn't affected, but turns out I am. I had a 2nd gear grind very early on, but since it was the 1 time I figured it was a fluke, but turns out I was just never really getting it good. I pulled out into a busy road the other day and when I went to 2nd gear it grinded so since that happen I knew it wasn't a fluke and tested the theory and yep it does it almost every time in higher RPM 1st to 2nd shifts and occasional 2nd to 3rd, but that only happened 1-2 times in the 3-5 tests I and my friend (mechanic) did.

-So what is the procedure here? Is this something Honda knows is a issue and easily without much hassle address or is this a process in which is going to be long and drawn out to get them to fix it?
- Also is there a fix for those that have had it addressed or is it a reoccurring problem?

Issue 2:
When chaining the oil (I do it at a friends shop) he and I noticed some oil residue around the oil drain plug. Looks like maybe oil pan or pump leak, but he said likely pan. Anybody else had this issue? We wiped it clean and I am going to check it in a few days and see just to make sure it isn't something we might have accidentally left from last change as that is doubtful, but just to be sure.

Thanks!

If you can reliably replicate the grind (high RPM), have the dealer tech test drive it and sit in with them if possible.

For issue 1, you prob need to change the transmission fluid. A lot of people are getting that 2nd gear grind. I had that grind in 2nd gear. I have a 2018 and I changed it to Amsoil. Haven’t had a grind since.

For issue 2, if you see it around the drain bolt, then it’s most likely just seepage and not a true issue. Changing the crush washer won’t help either because that’s just how it is. Honda doesn’t fix seepage. Only leaks. I’ve taken my car in and they’ve used an engine dye to check the source of the engine leak. I’ve done 2 oil changes on my car. Both times they have seepage, not leaks. Hope it helps.

Here’s a photo of seepage on my drain bolt.

You too a pic of the drain plug, ok. Did you tighten it while down there? Lol
