I wanted better gas mileage and a more comfortable ride than my 2018 STI, but without sacrificing ALL of the fun of driving. The new Si was the perfect car for that. Manual cars are getting harder and harder to find too...

The used 2016 LX we bought is our 4th Civic and they are pretty reliable. I seldom have to do more than regular maintenance. Once they get over 130,000 miles you get to occasionally replace things like alternators, starters, and AC compressors, but they are easy to change except for that damn starter.

Wife's Mini S was totaled. Wanted another car that had the same attributes, fun, handled well, mpg but without the spotty reliability and weirdness of the engineering.

I do miss the Mini though. It definitely was another level above the Civic Sport as far as performance goes.

I wanted the best possible gas mileage without buying a hybrid and without giving up "too much". For example, Hyundai sells a three cylinder car with the best gas mileage, but it is just about the cheapest car sold in North America. I wanted something better.

I chose the manual transmission because the CVT cost $1000 more. The gas savings from the CVS were so small that it would not pay for itself in 100,000 miles. Besides, manual is fun.

I got the turbo because the non-turbo model did not have heated seats, which I really wanted for cold winter mornings.

I bought a 2018 late in the model year just so I would not have to buy Honda Sensing.

The Civic is actually my wife's, but I put the most mileage on it! :)
It was supposed to be my turn to trade cars in 2017, but we got sick and tired of our under-6-year old mistake, her "rustbucket" (among other things), 2012 Mazda 5.
She drove 2 Hondas before that Honda (a 2001 Civic LX 5MT - totaled at 37 000km, then a 2003 CR-V EX - sold to our nephew at 190 000km) and was very satisfied. I drive a 2008 Accord EX-L with 228 000km, and I barely put any money in it since new.
So in November 2017, we pulled the trigger and got our Rallye Red 2018 Civic Sport Touring 6MT! Still can't wipe the smiles on our faces, 21 months and 48 000km later.

Well i'm Self Employed and so was looking for methods of reducing my Self Employment taxes as I paid over $6k in self employment taxes then like another grand in income taxes to the fed last year and I just hate losing money to taxes that doesn't need to be and my 03 Trailblazer is sitting around 240k miles and loses like half a quart for every 1k miles driven and gets a horrible 14.3 MPG on summer gas and 13.8 on Winter Mix (like this is so reliable I can tell the WEEK they make the switch in the formula) So this year I decided my method of reducing my tax burden would be to buy a car, I initially was looking at fulfilling a nearly 20 year old dream of owning a C5 Corvette while looking at C5's (plan was to buy outright with Cash looking to be around the 12-14k dollar mark) I went into a local restaurant that I eat at regularly and ran into my brother and his wife (they live the next town south of me, they came up here to see a movie in our fancy new theater with full on recliners for seats) and they asked me if I was interested in buying her 2016 Civic EX-T (this was almost 3 years to the week of when she bought it new), I was initially hesitant as I really wanted a C5 but then I made the mistake of looking at the C7 and fell in love with them but they where out of my price range for the time being in terms of getting approved for a loan that large, so since the C7's where off the table I then had to ask myself, do I want to settle for a C5 or do the rarest thing you can do, buy a used car that you KNOW the entire history of because you literally drove it when it had like 600 miles on the odometer and it's been in the family since day 1, naturally logic dictates chose the 3 year old car with 40k over the 15-20 year old car and hope there are no issues with the older car. So plans for a C7 are put on hold and so as to not risk draining my accounts to low I go to the credit union my brother got his loan for his Lexus through and get a $10k loan at 2.74% APR for 36 months (like $304 a month or something like that), this freed up some money to continue my home improvements.

Now I can go 2 weeks between fill ups and still not put in $20 in the tank where the Trailblazer was $32-34 every Week, the money saved on fuel is enough to cover the full coverage insurance and the insurance is a deductible expense anyway since i'm doing the Actual Expenses method on this car so I can write off the purchase price in the first year and the tax savings this year will cover most of the first years payments.

So long story short I helped out my brother and his wife by taking one of their cars off their hands and they walked away with like 5-6k after paying off the original loan, which is what they needed now that they have a baby and I get to drive something with under 150k miles for the first time since about 2006.

when the 2016's came out I thought about getting one but held off as it wasn't long after I closed on my house and went to being Self Employed so I didn't wanna do to much back then, now i'm in a "comfortable" (not "rich" but also not living paycheck to paycheck) financial position and I felt I could handle the loan.

I'm not familiar with Hyundai products, but what is that 3-cylinder car? By North America you mean Mexico? I only found Hyundai i10 which I've never heard about, but which is allegedly popular in India.

To test how Honda products are now these days~

Pro: It drives quiet a long time without much having to drink more gasoline.
Cons: The ingredients used, do not allow the car to go very long while looking good. Also, to repair/maintain is more of a hassle

Overall, I would give it a 3 stars and that is good but not 5 like an excellent~ rewind a decade back or two and I say... back to 5 stars in terms of quality~

You went from a DART to a SI, its quiet a difference in terms of the given: better looking, faster and "more" reliable. However, faster also reduces the MPG; so you either drive slower or shifter! was your DART an auto?

All for one and one for all, or just get an SI for YAAAS!

I drive pretty normal, but if the roads open i'll always give it a little go lol. It's so much fun.... Nah, my dart was also a 6 speed. The change over was completely different, I love my SI

My reason is I've always brought Japanese cars. My brother is a big German car fanatic. Between us, hes the one who has had significant repairs done and the worst I've had to deal with is a tail light letting in water. So the reason I got my 2017 Civic LX was:

1) Hondas Reliability
2) Cost to run, great on fuel
3) Needed something because I live in the city so the car handles that well. I had previously a 2005 Acura EL and it handled short journeys really well.
4) Good on insurance price
5) Nice aggressive style
6) At the time I got mine they were offering 0.99% financing and $750 credit. I also got the price of the car further reduced and 4 years extra warranty for $600 (Canadian).
7) Resale value

I test drove the corolla at the time and wasn't impressed with the road noise and power. Plus it did not support Android Auto or Apple car play. Out of all the manufacturers, Honda had the best price for a car I was looking for between the Golf, Mazda 3, Corolla, Elantra.

My 2015 Accord Sport (9th Gen) was totaled. I had a week to decide on a car.. I have always loved Honda. Need something reliable with Android Auto, so Toyota was out. Also, since the car was a need more than a want, needed something cheaper than an Accord so I got a used Civic Ex with sensing. Hope it as reliable as my Accord, No problems over 4 years and 97,000 miles. As with all cars in my family, hope to have this for 10+ years.

So far, I am very happy with gas mileage, and the ability to park it so easily.

2018 HB here, and haven't hard it for a year yet... there is already moisture in the tail lights.
What the crap is this?
