Ok here is a question. Chris Sun(@Apex Carver ) and I were talking at Nats and he mentioned that disabling VSC with the pedal dance also disables the car using the rear brake to "torque vector" the car and saves the rear brake more. I've never tried this so I have no idea. Has anyone tested this back to back and if they can see something noticeably different? I wasn't too open to trying right before Nats but might do it at one of the locals still left for the season.....

I personally tried both in the past and didn’t notice much difference between the two time/feel wise. The whole rear brakes thing comes from one of the local guys that tracks his FK8 regularly and has been through a few sets of pads. He mentioned that In R mode that the rear brakes get used up fairly quickly. I’ve taken his word for it and usually do the pedal dance.

The rear brakes get pretty used even from just mostly dailying the car for me(I'm on pad set #2 with 24k miles on the car and replaced maybe around 20k, only done one TNiA and rest are mostly autoX and just street driving). But I am curious if it uses the rear less if it doesn't try to pivot the car on rear brake as much. We do notice the car do that quite a lot and are suspecting thats is where some of the liveliness of the chassis comes from, but sometimes it seems to do weird thing so I wonder if its not there if it might make for a more consistent handling car...

Chris - do you know if they just put it in R mode and didn't fully disable TC (push and hold, not pedal dance)? I know R mode with partial will absolutely tear through rear pads - to the point they were smoking and I almost got meatball flagged. Pad wear went WAY down in R mode with the push and hold / fully disabled...

they did the push and hold... 99% sure they did that.

BTW. Congrats on the win in GSL, amazing drive you had there.

Thanks Chris! Apparently I get along with Sis pretty well

Interesting on the push and hold. I did one 20 min session in the damp with just the single push, and was smoking. No excessive wear issues with the push and hold through the remainder of that TNiA, plus a second TNiA and Time Trials National Tour... I get more wear from street driving than push and hold!

I worked course for DS at Nats,...Mike was really fast at my station, I didn't know anyone's name/number at the time. Once I looked at the results during the sweep car I saw how much of a lead he had. Nice driving.

where were you working both days? I wish I wouldn't have forgot my camera... I have zero video of probably one of the best two days of my life lol

First of all, congratulations to everyone who went to Nationals!

Yes, this is true. I talked to Kevin Boehm about it a couple years ago. (Besides being a multi-time SCCA runoffs champion, he worked on the NSX's VSA.)

- The pedal dance actually puts the relevant computer into maintenance mode so it doesn't do anything - no VSA, no AHA (Agile Handling Assist, i.e., torque vectoring), no +R mode, adjustable dampers locked in sport setting.
- Short press on the VSA button disables VSA at low speeds; intended for snow/ice conditions.
- Long press on the VSA in +R mode disables VSA entirely. AHA still works. Intended for race track use by normal people. Aliens are faster on track with the pedal dance.
- Note AHA works on both front and rear brakes, but the use/wear is most noticeable on the rear brakes.

As for noticeably different, the more you drive the car like a 'conventional' FWD, the less AHA kicks in. If you want to feel the difference, AHA on vs. off is very noticeable in a slalom. One other thing that I have noticed is that I am faster in the "sport" calibration than the "+R/VSA fully off" calibration on autox courses that have high-2nd-gear sweepers; however, this is probably strongly related to a lack of talent on my part.

I've never tried the pedal dance so I figure I should try it now that it doesn't matter anymore...lol

The part where it says the shock are in "Sport" mode is a bit interesting...

I'm with Mike - R mode is all I run really for autox

The only time I did this was the one time I ran the car in the rain at Packwood - I figured R mode would be a bit too much for the bumps there, and since you can't two step disable TC in Sport, I pedal danced it. Note: you can try pedal dancing in Comfort, it'll change you to Sport.

I am mainly curious if it drives different enough to change setup....I feel like a lot of the crazy turn-in the car is doing is from the AHA but sometimes it feels a bit weird. If it doesn't do +R damper mode though I don't know if you lose too much of the transient awesomeness of the car...
