First write-up for a DIY here. I know that there are a lot of people who want to do the fog light install or have cracked fog lights and are looking for alternatives.

I had a cracked fog light on my 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring on my driver side. * It comes with fog lights from factory * I wanted to fix it but didn't feel comfortable with getting the same OEM ones. I wanted something a bit more durable and something brighter.

So after looking at the reviews and recommendations, I went with the Morimoto XB LED fog lights.

If you are looking for the OEM ones, College Hills Honda parts site is selling the OEM kit for quite a bit. $312.00 + shipping for sensing and non-sensing models. The Morimoto XBs only cost me 143ish after the Black Friday sales. Originally it is around 175.

So on with the install!

I forgot to take a picture before the fogs but here we start. It honestly, doesn't matter where you start. Pick a side and start. I started with the "left/passenger side first". I was worried about the sensing stuff would make things more complicated but my worry was for not...

Starting from the top left side, get your plastic pry tool and insert it in the little edge there. You will see a few tabs on the top side.

Here is a picture of the tabs at the top. Be careful when you try to pull off the cover. When you stick in your pry tool remember to push that little tab so that it un-hooks. If you force it, you will break the little tabs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is another of those "lovely" push pins that holds it together so you will need either a small flathead, or one of those curved pick tools to help take that pin off. I choose to not re-install those pins as they are really annoying to get off, especially in such a small space.

So 3 big tabs at the top , 2 on the sides, and 3 more on the bottom and 1 annoying push pin.

Here is another picture of the cover.

From there its your regular fog light install. For reference the size is about 3.5. You will see the 4 mounting screws, so unscrew them and take off your old OEM fogs. Unplug the connector for the power and plug in your new fog lights. For the hatchback, I did some minor trimming to get everything to fit. Then re-screw everything and cover it back up!

I'll take some pics again this weekend when I do my new horn install. But basically, instead of what a few others have done, all that I did was slightly cut the back part. Hard to describe. I'll show it in the pictures.

Hello, thanks for this thread, I was looking for this exact question. I do not want to remove the bumper If I don't have to. ? Which way did you move your removal tool to dislodge the clip - up-down? Any more information on disengaging the clips are greatly appreciated.

PS. I ordered the LED OEM fogs that are listed for the 2019 Sedan, hope they fit the Sport Hatch.. Thanks

installed the fogs few days ago. Used needle nose pliers to snap off the back part you are talking about.

I was afraid id have to buy a dremel but needle nose pliers worked just great to trim off that excess plastic pieces.

I used diagonal cutters, was pretty easy to trim the plastic to fit.

Ah found a decent pic to use. Forgot about taking pictures when installing the horn but. Essentially I just clipped some of back plastic section (circled in yellow) that off using the pliers as another user (mofod) has mentioned.

If you look at the 3rd picture, you will see the tabs. Essentially you want to put in the pry tool and insert it deep enough so that it pushes down on the tab so that its released.

Start from the top. Doesnt matter left or right but need to start at the top first because at the bottom, there is a push pin you need to pry out as you see in picture #3.

Installed my fog lights Christmas afternoon, was only able to place one screw. Could not find anything on YouTube except removing the entire bumper, but talking with my Son i figured out how to remove the front plate. Did a google search, and found this thread. Broke off the tabs and was able to get the top two screw holes to line up. I supposed i could have gotten the bottom one with the work, but i figured two is good enough. '17 Civic SI Coupe only had three screws anyways. Today got it all done and back together in 20 minutes.

I just wanted to contribute to the group since I got some useful info from this thread and thought I would share my experience with prepping these XB LED Fog Lights. Thanks to the OP for pointing out that the tabs sticking out needed to be trimmed because they obstruct the mounting points when installing these fog lights.

These images show how I clipped these tabs using a wire cutter. I first began by using the cutter to make an indent (50% cut) so when I approach it from the other end it would break off where I made the indent, leaving a fairy clean right angle cut.
