You can't shift as fast as an automatic cvt with a manual. I'd still rather have a 6 speed gearbox though. That's why your not seeing as many sports cars with a manual option these days.

In addition to the lower power/torque, the sport touring has a ~40lb greater curb weight.
I'll give that a "big fat hairy deal" plus, I dropped 32 pounds by changing wheels, which could have been done on a hatch. I should have gone hatch and just added a tune and some decent coil overs as the Si suspension isn't that great.

While it's not all out race suspension.. I love the adjustable dampening on the Si. When you switch the car to sport mode it def feels tighter. With the limited slip diff the car pulls thru turns well for what it is. I doubt the touring model takes a .97g turn like the Si without modifications. I just wish the car sat slightly lower.

Where does it say it's faster than the Si? The Si has slightly better times and more usable tq to jet out of turns.

2019 Civic-ext Motortrend

made note of the Civic's smooth power delivery. We recorded a 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 15.2. That's about a .4 or .5 behind the Si. Which is exactly what you'd expect with the hp/tq differences
I’m not saying it’s faster in a straight 0-60 run with a professional driver behind the wheel. But in real life on the street with your typical driver, the difference is negligible. I’d bet it is faster or even against all but the best Si manual drivers. This car is finicky on straight line acceleration. Don’t shift it just right and your out the game for 2 seconds after a shift. Now, pushing hard in curves, no contest. The si’s better suspension and really, the LSD in and of itself, will eat the non si’s lunch.

Agreed. It's just hard to out-shift the cvt. That being said, you should always come out ahead if you shift the thing right. Guy on here posted a video of him pulling a 14.5 bone stock

I see a couple people talking about the power differences. I understand the si has better internals for really agressive tuning for big HP. However with the KTuner starter 21psi tune would the hatch and si put down similar numbers?

Got the SI last year, wish Honda offered MT touring at the time... love the gray not available on the SI, as well leather seats (easy upkeep with a a kid), and extra space of the hatch would come in handy with family trips.

It's going to be a lot harder to find the Sport Touring with the MT. I don't suspect there will be too many of them hitting dealer lots. A few. You might find one. The nice thing about the Si is every one that hits the lot is an MT. You'll have to do more searching for the Sport Touring and maybe won't be able to negotiate as good of a price. That would be my thought anyway. And sticker to sticker it is like $4k difference. The Sport Touring is just too expensive IMO for a Civic without a Type R badge.
I actually just yesterday searched for it around my area and found 4-5 really close. I think I'd love the interior and everything just curious about the LSD and how it changes handling

I really wanted a hatch Si as well... Type R is too much money for a FWD econo box. A hatch Si would have been PERFECT but I had to settle with a sedan since I really wanted the performance of the Si. FWD without LSD is a nightmare. Damn Honda for not making the hatch available in all trims and same to mitsu for not bringing the wagon evo to the states!

drive both and I promise you that you won't look back at the sport hatch just from the LSD alone. It's night and day in my book
