Yes. I do as well. I don't think the oil dilution issue has been solved. I'm pretty hard on mine, so I'm sure that's why mine does. Most direct injection engines are going to have some oil dilution. I change my oil on every car every 3000, synthetic or not. For me it was pretty noticeable about 2500 miles in.

I will take it to dealer tomorrow. Let's see what they say

You can't smell much gasoline in 3.4qts of oil. I know 2-3% gasoline in oil for gdi is normal but you can't be sure unless you get oil analysis done

I don't think Honda has this solved for 2019's either. I have 5,000 miles on my car and changed the oil at 4,000 because it had come up 1/4" above full on the dipstick (from new, and I'm one of those people who check fluids every weekend) and had a very strong gas smell. My commute is 10 miles to work and it's been summer here. I think Honda still has some work to do.

I have about 1200 miles on the car. No smells yet fingers crossed

Direct Injections cars are not designed for short trips. If you don't drive for at least 10 mins after your car has "warmed up", you're going to have dilution problems. No, Honda hasn't come up with a solution for this problem yet. Their "heat the car up quickly" fix, is just an inadequate patch.

Why worry about it until it becomes an issue where u can smell it?

I am from California and here the temperature is above 80f on average. I commute around 10 miles one way including 8 miles highway where the car reaches 70to75mph and yet I can smell little gasoline smell. I not strong and I can't understand the oil level because of our bad dipstick design

2019 Si have around 11k just the other day i got a whiff of gas driving while a/c was on. Change oil every 4000 miles or so. Hardly beat it since California has heavy traffic.

Fuel in the oil is normal and a side effect of GDI. Best way to mitigate is to do a longer trip at highway speeds which burns off excess fuel vapors in the crankcase. If you can't, the maintenance minder will calculate a much shorter oil change interval to ensure the dilution ratio isn't too high.

We've seen dilution over 5% in UOAs with no ill side effects. It tells us the manufacturers are aware of it and have engineered their systems to accommodate.

DI engine is going to get some fuel in the oil. On my last two oil changes I sent my oil for analysis, and everything was normal after 7K on the oil both times. Both times I was told that I could have gone a couple thousand more miles. Just follow the MM and you will be fine. Changing your oil every 3K is a waste of money. That statement is based on scientific data on not speculation or opinion

This may have been exhaust fumes from a car in front of you. You shouldn't be smelling any gas through your hvac system. If you continue to smell gas and it is for sure not coming from outside, pop the hood and make sure there arent any hoses or lines leaking. Otherwise your civic is gonna be leaving a permanent scorch mark on the shoulder of the road where it burnt to the ground.
