I've had the car for 8 months now and it has 1400 miles on it. The maintenance minder says oil life is 40%. Should i take it in based on time alone, or just wait until the maintenance light comes on? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would change mine based on time since i dont drive mine that much. A year should be good to change according to my last conversation with an Amsoil guy. Hope this helps.

I think the manual states 1yr or when the computer tells you, whichever comes first.

According to an analyst from Blackstone Labs, you can change your oil based purely off mileage if it’s a high quality fully synthetic oil.

I would recommend starting up the car once or twice a month and drive it for at least 20 minutes l.

I don't really drive my car that much either and I store it for the winter. I plan on just changing the oil every spring when I'm ready to take the car out.

after reading so much about it, i would change the oil right b4 I put the car away for winter storage. its better to have the engine sit in the fresh oil over the winter. just to share my opinion. Also remember to hook it up to battery maintainer.

There is so many school of thoughts honestly, I've read a bunch about it also. Some say if u do it before then the oil will absorb stuff and it just sitting in your engine is bad. Honestly either way is fine better than not changing it but I've just always changed it first thing after spring when I take the cars out. You'll be fine either way bro.
