I got mine, it’s illegal but still have it in Cali.Yep, I’ve been waiting for AEM, but no dice thus far.
Since the 2016 Civic came out, and still no CA CARB Legal intake. We are coming up on 2020 soon, nearly 4 years now. And if they do, I'm sure it will be in the $275+ range which is a bit much for me. And personally for me I'd be willing to shell out ~$150 for an intake. Mine being a 2.0NA, I'm quite sure it won't yield noticeable power. It would be more for the sound and engine bling, as someone on the forum had said.Yep, I’ve been waiting for AEM, but no dice thus far.
What people do or have done and myself in the past, is install the intake of choice and switch it out with the oem when smog time. BUT, if you get pulled over by police and they pop your hood, you risk a Ref ticket for not having a CARB Legal intake. I prefer the latter, and do it the right/legal way and just wait till a Carb legal intake is released. California is way too strict now a days with modified cars, and being pulled over is a hassle for both parties. AEM, K&N, etc. have done plenty of CARB Legal intakes for so many different cars. I'm just wondering why they haven't released any for the GenX Civics.I got mine, it’s illegal but still have it in Cali.

Looks sharp are you going to do all the trim or just certain piecesTried some vinyl wrap. These pieces were a pain for someone who has never tried this before. A ton of curves going in a few directions and all these little notches that had to be trimmed around.
That being said, I really only had a problem with one area, I just couldn't get it to lay flat around the top curve to the front side. You can barely see it once they are installed, and I did get the second one better than the first, so I'll probably have an ocd attack and try to redo them at some point.
This color looks amazing in the sun and almost black without it.

That's pretty cool - where'd you get them? For the placement I've seen them near the back of the doors too, do most people put them near the front? Or is it kind of a 'whatever' for placement?Added turbo decals on both sides. Didn't think of really aligning them properly before applying, but they still came out to be reasonably horizontal. Extra 5hp!
Got them from ebay for like 4 bucks. I think most people put it near the back since the Canadian model has it placed there if I'm not wrong. I took some artistic freedom with it, lol. That's pretty cool - where'd you get them? For the placement I've seen them near the back of the doors too, do most people put them near the front? Looks good. Do you have link of where you got the hood struts?Totally UNNECESSARY mod, but in a moment of weakness I bough these a few months ago, and finally got around to fitting them today.
Hood Strut Lift Supports.
The only issue was that Honda had used the Passenger Side Hood Strut Mount to secure the Windscreen washer Hose.
Luckily, there was a convenient hole near by, to relocate the hose securing clip to.
Now the warning label for a HOT Metal Rod is redundant, and no more messing to get the plastic end located in the underside of the hood, and no more chances of burning fingers on a hot metal rod .
So in Hindsight, having opened and closed the Hood a few times now, it's a nice improvement, and the dampening effects of the struts, means no more violent dropping and slamming of the hood.
I was searching the EO data base and couldn't find any intakes for the Gen X civics. Aem used to have 1 that was carb legal specifically for the 2016 model year but I'm wondering if it was rescinded cuz I can't even find that 1 anymore. The list was to long to go through it entirely so I just decided to go with an Aem drop in and a silicone intake hose.Is that K&N intake kit CA Carb Legal? I’m looking into an aftermarket, but want a CA Carb legal one.
Thanks!
