Went for a test ride 10 mins ago with my step-brother and allowed him to test my Si for 5 minutes. I'm on TSP Stage 1 and I was on Sport mode. He was going WOT in 6th gear!!!!!! I was like wtf are you doing, I could feel the clutch crying. I'm never, but never letting anyone drive my car ever again. He probably did more damage to my clutch in 10 seconds than I did to the clutch in 4 months ffs.

Never let anyone drive your car.

Now that's what I call a stress test... for your clutch and for you!

There's nothing that can describe what happens in my brain every time my step brother convinces me to let him drive my car, even if hes only going to drive a few miles...

One of the few times i say OK and he goes WOT in 5th or 6th gear early on is going to be a sad day.. Until I guilt him to pitch in on the clutch replacement... (ACT please release your clutch before this happens)

This is where BBG comes in extremely handy. I’ve got 2 boys, one driving for a few years under my tutelage and one that is going to start to learn tomorrow. If they get into too high a gear and heavy throttle, the BBG settings I have don’t stress the clutch at all.

If it makes you feel any better, if it did not slip it did not damage your clutch. Obviously not something you want to make a habit of.

If it did slip, it's unlikely to continue to after one incident as long as you avoid the behavior that caused it.

Fingers crossed for your clutch. :)

This is awesome. The thing that I don't understand is that my step brother has been driving stick for years, yet he was still trying to go WOT in 6th gear which is an overdrive gear. I hope your boys will be awesome stick driver! We need more of them

Hard to tell, I don't want to go WOT in 5th or 6th to find it out. But he sure did test it for me tonight. Anyway, I am never letting anyone else drive the car. Let's hope it was not slipping I could not tell since my hearth was pounding so much and I was trying to figure out what he was doing.

It's funny how many people don't understand how gearing and the components of a manual transmission work (even if they drive stick)! I remember riding with a guy once in his Corvette and we got revved at by an Audi on the freeway... he was in 7TH GEAR and mashed the gas, and I was like "downshift man, catch up!" and he downshifted to 6th and gunned it... just so bad :cry:

True, very true. Even if people have been driving stick for years they still don't understand they need to downshift if the RPM's are too low. My step brother has a 2012 Civic and his clutch is slipping, no wonder why, I just find out tonight that he his an awful stick driver. He should 'stick' to automatic cars.

If he WOT @ above 3k rpm it should be fine as it's only for like 10 or 20 sec. Stock tune shouldn't cause issues and if you selected map 3 in TSP stage 1 tune I can't say

I learned on a farm... engine loading, selecting the right gear to not cause undue stress to the engine. Farm machinery is expensive and it needs to last if you want to make any money. I’ve been driving stick since I was 8 years old, now 51. I learned all about lugging, labouring, gearing and proper clutch usage from day one. I’m happy and proud to pass the tradition to my sons. It is a way better learning experience on stick, rare as those are these days. Bless Honda for keeping the dream alive.

If i’m driving normally i try to keep the RPMs around 2500-3200. Cruising around with the RPMs over that just seems like you're looking for attention... i generally shift around 3500-4000
