Defective clutch. OP already stated that the fluid was bled.
OP just return the clutch to the seller and get a letter from the shop stating that they are SAE certified and that the job was done correctly.
You aren't understanding what I'm saying...define "defective clutch" I'm a shop owner and master mechanic. From the symptoms the OP was describing it sounds like the pressure plate wasn't fully disengaging the clutch disc making shifting extremely difficult. The next step is to find out why this is happening. There might be a need for an adjustable throw out bearing. Check the stack height of the assembled clutch/pressure plate assembly and compare it to the original setup. Measure from the mating surface on the block where the transmission mates up to the flats on the fingers of the pressure plate where the throw out bearing presses. This measurement should point you in the right direction to solve the issue. This is something that should be checked on any replacement clutch, and more so on aftermarket replacements. I have to do this frequently on cars that convert to dual and triple disk clutch setups.

It's the defective pressure plate in both of my cases that does not fully disengage.
There shouldn't be any need for an adjustable throw out bearing because everything provided should work 100% if it's not defective.
If it doesn't work and pedal adjustment does not solve the issue, there is nothing else to adjust and the OP should return the defective parts while he can.

This is something that should have quicker turn around time. They need to get on their horses and you need to pressure them immediately..

I am a patient consumer but when you spend this kind of money, there need to have immediate answers. You are not their R&D Team.
So the installer and spec spoke today. Seems that the clutch was manufactured improperly.

Working through MAP to get a refund. They’re giving me some pushback but at the end of the day I think it’ll get taken care of.

Now I’m debating getting a new OEM clutchplate while they’re in there.

This is great to know , I completely understand upgrading while in there. Good to know the factory clutch was still in great shape after 40k miles. S2000’s are very similar, stick with oem Honda parts & things will last. Sorry for your troubles
Yeah I’ve learned that the hard way here. Working to get a refund.

I hope that PP did not look like that when it was first fitted, if it did the dealer who did the job should have questioned it for sure!

Who is going to pay the labour charge?

Getting pushback on a defective product.. shame.

As a technician, i would have questioned the "fingers" once tightened down. Most are relatively "flat".. those are definitely further in and leaves Less travel room for movement/disengagement.

I’m assuming it did look like this when installed considering the issues popped up right away.

I was quoted one additional hour for labor beyond what the warranty was covering for the separate issue. I will not be paying more than that.

This information is frustrating to me. Appreciate it, at least I can use this if they start and argue labor fees.

Here’s the morning update.

Spec called and after they saw the images their whole attitude changed.

They’re overnighting a new pressure plate and want to hear back that the issue is resolved.

Hopefully they will pick up the labour charge, don't know about the US but in the UK the retailer who sold the part is responsible but like I said before, the garage who first fitted it have to take heat on this as it was obvious to me the PP was not correct.

Man, what doesn’t the UK do better than the US. Here in the states there’s nothing legally stated about labor. Thankfully my shop has been understanding and with this news from you guys, I’m sure they’ll be even more so moving forward.

how is a pressure plate installed if the bolts are loose? easy check for relase issues if to lift the car, put the car in gear, push clutch and have a mate try and turn the wheels by hand.

Who said anything about loose bolts?

Maybe I missed something. I’m not following what you’re saying here.
