I'd like some more thoughts on whether the CTR wing is lame or not. Please discuss.

So because I don't want the wing I'm relegated to 100 less hp? Not sure why that has to be the case especially when I'm sure there is a market for this car.

I've been a huge fan of the type r, from its amazing suspension setup to combination of performance and everyday usability. I wouldn't buy the car stock and remove the wing but if honda does release this I'll be a customer. I guess we'll find out soon hopefully.
Maybe they’ll add a CVT so you’ll have your complete package. There’s no sense in prohibiting the performance of a ‘performance’ car for aesthetic purposes, it’s goes against the purpose of the Type R.

As I and others have said there’s the Si or Golf R if your set on conservative styling.

I'm not sure why you're being presumptive and assuming I want a CVT. I've never denied the functionality of the wing and I've never advocated for it to be replaced but rather have an alternative in the form of another trim. By the same token, I think a more extreme version with a CF roof and less weight would be great for the track oriented crowd. Since the wing does not add benefit until triple digit speed, I personally see a place for the car from the OP in the market.

Speaking of, I test drove the golf R and was unimpressed. Not keen on the civic si as I like the hatch and do not want rev hang. Hopefully honda releases info on the 2020 type r soon. Until then, agree to disagree.

I don't see the reason for all the arguments over the big wing. I personally happen to like it. I think it balances out the whacky rest of the car. Unlike a GT3 Touring (which is gorgeous without the wing), I don't think the Type R is pretty without the wing. WRX STi has a huge wing too. I don't hear people freaking out over that one. Same for EVO. I do agree that it doesn't do much at low speeds so is really a track thing (which won't benefit me much) but who cares?? It's functional whether I use the function or not. If it were total poser, I could understand. Engine sounds through the car speakers? I can't stand that. The big wing actually works. You have to be going fast as hell for it to work, but it works. HOWEVER, on the flip side I know plenty of people that just hate the big wing (my wife calls it a shopping cart handle), so Honda is offering a different trim with a small one. I don't like it, but I also don't feel the need to hate on it just because I don't like it. To each his own.

I don't care if it has huge wing, small wing or no wing at all. More option is always good.
STI also has a huge functional wing but you have the option to remove it. You could do the same with the evo too.
Now, if that tiny spoiler is the only option for the 2020, then it's a different story.

Surprising to me also. I love my wing
I love the look but it won't help my build lol I'm replacing it with the mugen roof spoiler and a mid spoiler ducktail extention

I don't get the dislike for the spoiler either. It's literally a significant part of the look. To each his own though. If I didn't like the spoiler, I would have removed it and sold it.

I hope you don't get either of those actual wheels for the CTR. They won't fit. The offset is way too low and the bolt pattern is wrong.
Oh, well i’d have to call about the Cosmis but Kansei actually made a KNP especially for the type r’s brakes.

The pictures you have in this post are different wheels that what you had in the other. The offset is +35 here vs the +10 in the previous post. I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern changed from 5x114.3 to 5x120 as well.

Yeah, takes 15 mins to take off/put back. Better to have two people holding the wing to prevent scratching anything; the sucka is heavy. No big deal, big wang, small wing. Slap some white duct tape on the holes and off I go.

Oh well that was my bad then. In the first post I really just meant the wheels in general not the specific dimensions.

Do you have a picture of the side profile without the wing?
