Hello Sirs,

I have bought an Honda Civic 1.8 VTEC 2006 recently and I change the oil.
I use Liqui Moly toptec 4200 5W30.
But I realize that the engine had I oi consumption arround 1,5 liters per 20.000 km.
I want to know if it's normal and if I use the correct oil.

Thanks all

Regards

Nope not normal at all, and you need to report this to your dealership right away

On a 10 y.o. car, that's not too bad. It could mean that the piston rings are getting worn, or you could have an oil leak elsewhere. But the bigger issue to me is going 20K km on a batch of oil!

Also, FYI this forum is pretty specific to 2016 and up models, but we'll try to help you out when we can.

I'd be concerned if it were me, I've had 15 to 20 year old Honda's that did not burn a drop of oil.
But like you said, he'd be better off asking in the forum for his car, and or calling the dealership.

Depends on the car. Some aren't known to burn oil so even a little is a sign of an issue. Others are known to burn 1qt / 1k mi. You'll have to ask on a more appropriate forum and see what the consensus is.

That's not a crazy high amount and you don't specify the number of miles/km on the car. Might be something as simple as worn valve seals. Could just be age.

You need to go to the forums for your model Civic, this is for 2016 Civic, or you could call your local Honda dealership.
The best you're going to get here is wild guesses not actual facts. We cannot diagnose your car for you.

My 2016 EXT is down to below half of the dip stick with only ~4500km on it.

Can't wait to hear dealers excuse on this one...

Wow that isn't good at all. Brand new car shouldn't be burning any. 7700 miles before my first oil change and it was still full.
