I just soak a balled up paper towel when I get home and let it soak on the spot for a minute then very gently wipe it off. No scratching, no need to wash a towel every time, and no evidence left behind of the bird crime.

Do you guys use the same method for those tiny yellow round spots. I always thought that was also bird droppings, but apparently it's bee droppings or something.

Take a paper towel like Bounty brand. Cut it into 4 squares, wet one piece with warm tap water and fold it a bit and lay it on top of the bird poop for about 5 minutes. When you pull off the paper towels the poop will come off with it like nothing. Then grab a microfiber and some quick detailer to wipe it clean.

If you want to do it correctly without scratching/marring the paint, you need to hose off the area first. Bird poop is not only corrosive to paint, but their diet is comprised of a lot of seeds that don't get fully digested so if you're just wiping it off with QD, you're ruining the paint. At least from the level of fully corrected paint.

After you've hosed off the car, use a microfiber towel + quick detail spray, or even spray wax. You're looking anything that provides lubrication.

Agreed, here is my technique:

1) Spray with ONR to encapsulate the bird poop
2) Rinse off with hose to get rid of as much debris as possible
3) Spray again with ONR to lubricate the surface
4) I Then spray a diluted APC (I like power clean 1:3) which is really great at eliminating organic crud like bird poop
5) I typically find one swipe with an ONR drenched microfiber towel after all the steps above eliminates the rest of the bird poop
6) I then will spray with a spray wax or a spray sealant to start rebuilding protection (APC strips most protectants short of ceramic coating)
7) Final wipe down with different clean MF towel

Lol. Thats way too much going on. When I could easily get a paper towel like a bounty, wet it with warm water and add little drop of all purpose soap if I want to get fancy like Dr. Bronners( All natural castile soap, my all favorite), lay the bounty paper towel directly on the poop and leave it on there for like 5 minutes. The bird poop literally melts off. Then just spray with a quick detailer and clean microfiber. Boom! Done. No mess. No wasted water or time and definitely not stripping off my paint with harsh chemicals. Thats actually horrible advice.

If you're referring to my method, yes you can.

An APC isn't going to strip off paint - just LSP, if even that. I get that not everyone wants to take the time to handle their paint the same as others but if your car is paint corrected for that last bit of perfection, you're not going to ruin it by taking a paper towel to it. It's honestly a hell of a lot of work and 99% of people won't even notice but if you've spent 3 days correcting the car, taking out the hose, a towel, and QD to wash bird poop off isn't a big deal.

As a detailer, if you have a test panel, you should do a full paint correction, let it sit a few days and wipe it with a wet paper towel. Check it with your torch light - there's going to be marring. I don't think there's a way around that.

I second what @louielouie said

You are going to mar the paint with a bounty towel. It might be micromarring and I'm sure people will say I'm crazy for doing it my way, but it works well for me.

I myself skip the hose. Everything else is already drawn up and ready in my garage. (I have diluted ONR in a sprayer, diluted APC in a sprayer which as @louielouie correctly mentioned may remove LSP but not paint..., diluted ONR in a bucket along with a MF, spray sealant in a sprayer, and plenty of clean MFs on the side)

I'm not wasting water or time. Definitely not marring my paint either.

Yea, the one thing I can't figure out are the damn gloss black door trims. They scratch when you breathe on them; drives me nuts. Might polish and Xpel but the Civics a lease.

Feel like I'm preserving this thing for no reason other than habit.

Lol. First off I never said to wipe it with the wet paper towel but to place it wet with warm water( ideally as hot as possible)on the bird poop and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then to gently lift it off with the bird poop on it since it melts right off with it. There’s no way that has caused any marring on my paint and I have a black car which is notorious for swirl/towel marks. Or course I would prime spray the whole area I will be touching with a quick detailer(in my case CG Ecowash) and letting it sit for a few seconds before lifting off the dirty paper towel and touching the paint with a fresh microfiber.

yeah ageeed i’ve stopped obsessing about those

i don’t plan on keeping the car for very long myself but if i were maintaining one long term, i think the simplest option would be to just replace those trim pieces regularly, they just scratch too easily

Has anyone ever use this product for removing bird droppings on car? I went out to my car to clean some spots before it got any worse and I’ve heard WD-40 works great. It took the poop right off and I immediately went back and used some Mr. Pink wash on a soft towel to wash the spot I used WD-40 on. Anyone else have tips for getting this crap off?

Just spray rainx waterless wash on the dropping directly and some on microfiber towel and wipe off.
