It should be easy to tell when the car is off. On models with the mechanical tach you can see it when the car is off. On models that are all digital it is just a blank screen until you open the door. When the door is opened on lcd models, there is a honda splash screen that comes on.

yea, I think you're right. Shined a flashlight into the instrument cluster with the car off and I can see the tach but the digital speedometer isn't there.
