Just leave it in N (neutral) before turning it off.
Either you both confused or misunderstand, this is on the Type R board. It's already neutral when not in gear. You can at least prime the car by pressing the start button once. I believe that turns on the infotainment in my car.

I think more of a issue is if you are using your head unit and are making a call, when you want to turn off the engine.
If you turn off the engine, you turn off the head unit, and drop the call.

For Music, you can just turn off the engine, and the press the Starter once to tune the Head Unit back on to continue to listen to Music -- (while you quickly flatten your battery )

You effective "Drop" the Music for a few seconds, but that is not as bad as dropping a phone call !!

Okay, I have a few questions:

1) What is the difference between the basic and pro versions?

2) Can Honda Hack be removed easily, and does it have to be removed before any sort of inspection or service check by Honda?

3) I'm interested in being able to play videos (like MP4 content) from my flash drive. Is this possible to make happen with the Honda Hack?

4) What is the screen's resolution?

5) What is the max bitrate that this can play?

Basically, I have no want or need to install anything that needs an internet connection (Netflix, Spotify, Chrome... none of it) but would like to put on Tunerview for my KTuner, alter my EQ settings for music (don't know if it's a universal EQ change or just for music itself), play videos off my flash drive (unless I absolutely have to download them into my headunit), and do things like be able to access items while driving and not have them grayed out.

Wondering if I need the Pro version for anything like that, and also wondering what is and isn't possible.

So at the time I had mine, basic was limited, Had to have pro to have apps added and connected through bluetooth. There is a hide all apps from dealer option but again at the time I had mine was a pain you have to hide apps and it gave you a code. When you wanted to unhide them you have to connect to the internet and put the code in and it reinstalled the apps. If you want to go back to factory just do a head unit reset and honda hack will be gone. As far a splaying media from a flash drive.. sorry no idea. But I can tell you the head unit is not good for anything intensive. Videos will be slow and sometimes skip, it was not made to do those sorts of operations. Update may have changed the way some of this works, this is how it was when I had it. But no updates will fix that the head unit is not made for these things. hooking up tuner apps and making waze and spotify native is about it. Anything more than that, or using the hacks items like bypassing the ok screen and changing startup animations, will bog the head unit down.

Very informative, thanks.

Still considering getting it just for TunerView, so we'll see on that. I'm in no rush, but now that I'm running Map 3 in Sport mode almost all the time I really want to monitor temperature and knock.

Can just use app on phone in a mount at eye level. I found tuner app on head unit i can't really look at while tearing ass around a course and take eyes off road. Phone at eye level.is better. Just something to think about.

Understood, but I'm not going to be on a Smartphone for long. I'm going back to the flip phone.

I think it's just fair to say that I prefer flip phones more. This is a thread about Honda Hack, and I asked a question about Honda Hack. He gave me an answer that was valid, but will not work for my situation. That's all that needs to be said.

If you'd otherwise like to continue with the other conversation, before we proceed, anyone care to tell me what receiver, amps, and speakers you have in your home, and what you calibrated it all with?

It's almost 2020, so I think we are entitled to at least a brief explanation of why and how. .... please. :)
I get it, some people don't need smart phone functions. Just need to make calls. And plans for flip phones are cheap some as low as 20 bucks a month.

Sorry for derailing the thread. I totally respect your decision not to use a smartphone.

RX-A1070 with Rti-A7s and YPAO. Hoping to get a PS Audio M700 and swap the Rti-A7s for the new Polk Legend L800s. Not sure if their SDA stuff will work in my room though.

I don't need an explanation, I fully understand it.

I just moved to a smart phone a little over a year ago, and did so kicking and screaming. And while it is nice sometimes to have the functionality of a smart phone, as an actual phone, it sucks. I will take my 8 year old flip phone any day. The reason I ultimately had to change was that so many new formats for text messages were out, my old phone was unable to read about half the messages I received.

And speaking of text messaging, it is the form of modern communication that I truly dislike the most. So incredibly inefficient. It ranks just below smoke signals and Morse code on the list of most inefficient forms of communication.
