Well... crap. Good to know. Went and bought a faraday cage bag for me and my wife. Thanks forum peeps!

I was afraid of this hence the reason why I got myself a faraday sleeve back then. It is not expensive but I was paranoid enough to test it by putting the key fob in it and trying to open the car while still carrying the sleeve/key

Several of our friends in law enforcement suggest drivers keep a small portable "car bag"... something that has your registration, wheel lock key, garage remote etc. LEAVE NOTHING in your car or trunk of any value or identification. We've done this for years...each one of our cars has a separate pouch for all the above mentioned items. Its really not that inconvenient. I despise car thieves and see nothing wrong in doing whatever is required to prevent or punish those who screw around with a persons car.
