The Hybrid Ceramic Wax has been working great for me. I Bought this car on the 18th and applied the first coat of HCW very soon after. I applied it using the long method described on the bottle (spray on and wipe off). After that i applied a coat of Meguiars Liquid wax on top of that.

This picture you see here is today after washing and applying a second coat of the HCW using the spray on and rinse off method. So far I'm super happy with this, especially since it was only $14 at walmart.

I had bad luck with the spray on rinse off method of this stuff. maybe I over applied it or its because of the darker color on the car? It left spots and streaks on the sides of the car.

1st use Spray on and wipe off - looks good
2nd use spray and rinse off - left streaks, used a pressure washer
3rd use spray on wipe off - looks good again

I made the mistake the first time and used too much but didn't have a real issue with streaks. In subsequent washings, I spray much less on the sections and pressure wash off. Looks great.

to add: I'm using it also on my CR-V which is the dark Basque Red Pearl and didn't have streaks either but, again, I've learned to used only a small amount on each panel and it works very well.

As they say in their instructions

I use Collinite 845 about twice a year. I tried the Meguiar hybrid ceramic wax the other weekend and wow... I love it so far. Nothing beats Collinite but I think this will be my go to for the in between washes. Pollen is usually the bane my existence but it hasn't been so bad, I've noticed the shine lasts a pretty good while. It also smells oddly nice, sort of like cotton candy or something sweet. I should have taken photos but I forgot.
I just put PowerLock Plus and Collinite 845 on the car about a month ago; is the HCW ok for a topper on washes then? It is it over kill? I also have a quick wax that I’ve been doing after washes while I still have the good sealant/wax base.

I watched a video blog from “The Rag Company” about applying waxes and one they talked about was MEGUIAR’s HCW.

One thing they mentioned was these car guys bragging about how many coats of wax they had on their car. But what they don’t realize is some waxes were only meant to have one coat. So applying a second coat actually stripped off the first coat. So when he says he has 10 coats on his Vette, it’s really only one.

Now about Meg’s HCW. One thing they mentioned about this product is it does not have a cure time like some waxes. One they mentioned and I also use is P&S Bead Maker. It has a 24 hour cure time. But anyway, not only does it not have a cure time, it’s also a product made so other waxes can be applied on top of it, meaning two coats, not one like the above example.

(My Opinion)
Now if HCW allows for multiple coats because of its composition, why not use that as the base coat instead of the top coat. So what I tried was to use the HCW as the base coat since it has no cure time, then use the Bead Maker for a top coat since it has a cure, to cure itself over the HCW. Then reapply the Bead Maker as needed.

I’m not trying to promote any of these products as most will use any wax they are comfortable with. But if what Meguiar’s says is true, as in you can apply other waxes on top of this, any combination should work.

During the day in sunlight, I don’t think my car is very shiny. But at night when lights hit it, it almost looks like my red car is melting, like red candle wax.

Used HCW today. Flayed car, laid down base as directed, then put on a second coat as directed. If this holds up I will not wax on, wax off the old traditional way anymore. Great product! Thanks to all on here for the tip!

I picked up some of the Hybrid Ceramic Wax based on another members recommendation and couldn't be happier with the results. I followed the instructions exactly as they are written and experienced no issues with streaking. I am a huge fan of Meguiars products and have been using them for the past 20 years. I know some car detail snobs will say otherwise but for me, I have had nothing but fantastic results. Their Waterless Wash & Wax spray is also really good in between washes - I haven't hand washed my vette in months.

Two thumbs up for Meguiars!:thumbsup:

I bought a bottle of the Turtle Wax and was going to try it today but the Meg's HCW is so damn easy to apply and use, I just stayed with Meg's... lol

Yeah, I'm also a big fan of Meg's products. The HCW is simply awesome for the money and ease of use, imho. I also recently tried the waterless wax and spray and also found great results. My confusion is when to use the waterless versus the detailer spray. Any thoughts?

I was using Ultimate Detailer up until I learned about Wash and Wax. It has higher lubricity, more emulsifiers, and synthetic wax protection compared to the detailer spray. I buy those 30 packs of microfiber cloths at Walmart and dispose of them after a couple of uses as they do tend to get pretty filthy depending on how long you go in between cleanings. I try to do mine every couple of weeks but sometimes that doesn't happen and I end up doing a real water wash using the two bucket method.

Glad to see so many positive reviews. I've been eyeballing different "ceramic sprays" like this and the Meguiars seemed to have good reviews. Definitely going to pick up a bottle of this stuff to try...once winter is over. :(

That's a good point about the WW. I buy some of the larger micros but I wash 'em and re-use - I can't get myself to dump 'em. I keep a bottle of detailer (OCD, I know) in the car in case a bird craps on the car - they seem to like sonic gray pearl, those bastards.
