You're comparing a $35k FWD hatchback to a $57k RWD drive two seater. If money isn't a problem, get the Cayman.

I assume you have all been patiently waiting on my final decision so I will alleviate your angst. I chose a black 2014 Cayman S with PDK, sport chrono, BOSE, Convenience package, etc.

I made a final call to Schomp Honda (Colorado) a few weeks ago and was informed they have taken deposits for an estimated 2 years of type R inventory. 2 years... I'm not getting any younger.

I don't know for sure but I may have bought a civic R at MSRP if I could have.

Thanks for all the input from this thread. I appreciate it. You made me consider the Porsche more than I probably should have.

Congrats man! That was my other choice if I talked myself into not needing the back seats or if I didn't find a Type R close to MSRP. Pictures when you get a chance. Sports Exhaust  ?

No one can predict future CTR value. A white S2000cR sold for $70k recently
Supply and demand. S2K CR is probably one of the most if not the most rare car Honda has released here. Perhaps the Civic Si Mugen ($30k, 1 year only) edition is more rare. If Honda releases the next gen CTR here, don't expect the values to appreciate like the ITR/CR etc.

I chose a black 2014 Cayman S with PDK, sport chrono, BOSE, Convenience package, etc.
Very nice and enjoy your new car! I was contemplating this decision myself, but decided on a CTR after a life changing event occurred.

Awesome choice, the NA flat 6 engines in those cars are beautiful and the PDK shifts lightning fast so it will defenitely put a smile on your face! Overall, I defenitely prefer the sleek and understated styling of the Porsche vs. The CTR.

Congrats on your Cayman, how come no manual trans?
I'm hoping to add both a 2019 Type R and Cayman GT4 to my garage.
I'm pretty sure both will be classics in the future.
Enjoy.

$48k with 28k miles. From my research seems fare. Build sheet was MSRP $82,205.
A steal of a deal. Compare it with hot hatches... and markups...
Impressed by how it drives, feels? (I was when I tested the 718, it's unlike regular road cars).

I say it again. If CTR8 FK8 won't happen for me (reliability problems not solved) I'll keep the money - cash is king. Then I'll be waiting around the corner for a nice pre-owned Cayman 718 at the right price.

Funny this is a topic i replaced my 2016 Cayman S with a 2019 Type r when i initially purchased it, shocking how similar they drive on track. heres a picture of a loaner and my type r for when my cayenne turbo was in for warranty work, even teh 718 is comparable despite it being much sharper then the 981
