OP - Not running a cat in cali is asking for trouble. I'd wager you got pulled over because of how your car smells.

As said, return everything to stock and take it in.
No he originally pulled me over for my exhaust

Everything always starts off with a modified exhaust down here and then "probable cause" for them to check under the hood.

a loud exhaust is not probable cause to check smog equipment. should not have popped the hood. and you more than likely did something other than sound that caught the pigs eye not the sows ear.

Honestly I’m the type of person who always respect officers and if I would of said no to the officer to open my hood. He would of gotten more pissed and probably impound my car on the spot or just throw more tickets at me... I had no choice but to open the hood when he asked. Also he told me he pulled me over cause my ehxuast

your right it's not. but it becomes a much more hassle if you say no.

Unfortunately, local legislatures pass stupid laws that cops have to enforce and then the cops have to deal with the blow back from the community. Some cops are A-Holes but there are lot of cops just trying to do their job and keep the public safe and it does not help when the local legislatures decide to pass some BS law in the name of environmentalism or what ever cause du jour or special interest du jour.

Whack.

It seems in California they'd have better things to worry about. Oh yeah, they don't prosecute for "petty crimes" anymore, maybe the whole state is safe and legal in every other aspect...

This is another reason why I'm on the fence about doing a custom exhaust. I just put the 17'+ SI rear diffuser on my 16' coupe, and trying to figure a way to do a custom center exhaust that retains a muffler and quiet like stock, or less than the 95db limit.

I was thinking of how to utilize the stock muffler, but with different routing. But that seems to be a difficult option to do, when I inquired at a exhaust shop. So I've found two mufflers from Flowmaster and Magnaflow, that fit the criteria of possibly being under the 95db, but just don't know if I want to do it yet. For the mean time, my stock exhaust remains untouched.

It is in Cali (Ca VC 2804 & 2806). You could say no, but you are risking getting arrested and having your car towed/impounded.

Sorry to hear what happen to you man. Cali officer can be hard with things like that. I have being send to the referee and I reconmend you to go back completely stock before going In. They will send you back right away If they see any modifications under your hood. The muffler shouldn't be a problem as long does pass the 95 decibels.

So I hired a lawyer. In Southern California there’s company called FYOURTICKET and many people have recommended me this guy. And looking thru his Instagram it looks like he got a lot of state ref cases dismissed.

Being that you went catless, I don't think he could do much. You would have to go completely stock to get past the refs. If he does get you a pass, let us know.
