That is not OK and should be fixed. There is a torque converter that kicks in at lower idle and when the revolutions become higher and the car moves forward, the torque converter locks up, it should

Sounds like you have a torque converter hi Revolution situation
huh...that's the first time I've heard of this, guess I should take it to the stealership

B4 the Touring, I had a Suzuki Kizashi without the torque converter combined with the CVT and you couldn't used it to brake the car when backing up. You can with the Civic

I posted about this ealier somewhere else. I have just a good ol' LX. I have yet to take the car into the dealership for anything, but when I do I'm definitely going to mention it and see what they say

I guess since I'm 72 and not a boy racer, turbo lag does not mean jack s*** to me. It is so modest when econ is off and in the low gear that it doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

This is the best car I've ever owned. It passes anything on the road with ease and does it at 42 MPG. Turbo lag shmurbo lag.

Where else can you take 1,500 cc's, jack it up to 174 horsepower, giving it the response of a V8 whilst changing your oil every 10000 miles and drive 400 miles for $23.30? Where else I say? :)

You know what bugs the hell out of me? Try cruising at engine idle speed, think its like 8mph or something
Now lightly apply the brakes till ur almost stopping at 2mph
Feel the car shift to neutral?
Let go of the brakes
Feel the car shift to D and jerk you forward
Touch the brakes
Feel the car shift to N
Rinse and repeat

This only happens when creeping along in traffic but damn does it bug me
BINGO!
This is exactly the way to describe how my '16 Touring Sedan functions. What a perfect description.
I drive 2-3hrs a day each way to/from Chicago and while sitting in crawling (if that) stop/go gridlock - this is happening constantly and beyond annoying.
I havent taken it to the dealer but if there could be a fix (doubt it) - I'd be all over it. I think this is one of the most annoying aspects of this car.
I have 4000 miles on it in the 30 DAYS I have owned it....thats a lot of miles and have this issue daily...

It depends on how your day to day traffic is. Living in the world’s top 10 worst traffic city like mine, this lag bothers me a lot. I hope there is a fix for it.

Living on Long Island I know the feel lol. It's really a combination of the turbo lag plus the CVT although I think the turbo lag is the lesser of the two evils. It feels like you have to think a second or two ahead of what your car will actually do. I had a 2016 WRX and it was the exact same, hit the pedal, wait a second, off you go.

Yes - I see it most often coming off of a freeway exit. I'll come to a short stop or almost stop and hit the gas into the turn onto the surface street and often get the lag there.

I have the same problem with my new EX. Driving in LA, when you hit the breaks in stop and go freeway traffic, then make a quick lane change and hit the gas, it feels like the automatic transmission downshifts. Combine that with cars coming behind you at a high rate of speed, it's more than a little annoying, it's dangerous.

I've also noticed that I lose a ton of power when the AC is on. I've never had that happen in my previous Hondas.

Sigh.

Man, the way you guys talk about traffic in the big cities, you couldn't pay me enough to live there. I wish you guys have a safe drive everyday.

I had a CVT Accord before and before that a 5-speed auto CRV and it just seemed there's a bit of gas pedal or maybe transmission lag on both cars...so maybe not unique to CVT. Now that I have the Civic Touring, I feel the same thing but even worse. Perhaps the it is a transmission + turbo lag. Sometimes I need to get going in a hurry because cars are coming and the lag is just insane. I guess I have to adjust my driving around it.

I had to adjust my driving habits because the turbo lag and cvt is pretty bad. I would go and there would be cars coming and this car wouldn't go so I would hit the gas hard and then take off like a rocket. Now I'm use to the lag so it's not as bad.
