Added benefit? You know the type r wing does nothing untill about 90 some miles an hour. Everyday driving its just a big wing.
Ummm, why are you driving at less than 90 mp/h?

Honda believes that somehow those body color vent inserts create an illusion of a smaller vent. The reality is, it just makes them stand out more and not in a good way.
totally agree with this theory

hummm something's off. Why cover all the honda Hs and the civic name but not the type R? Plus it does not have the normal shipping stuff on it. I would say this is probably a test car the one from Nurburgring. But seeing how that looks to be a netherlands plate on the tow truck and a test car not certified for road driving would be towed to and from a site? But towed to and from where? I guess it is transported from swindon to nuremberg by way of the netherlands? when you look at a map would make sense.
I hope that's true. I love the wing

You would see much negativity about the CTR design on this forum, obviously, but if you read around the internet, it seems a majority of people don't like it, saying it's over the top, childish, etc. Honda knows this, which is why they attempted to make changes, but failed. They either didn't want to spend the money, don't give a shit, or have some really bad designers. The current tall spoiler is too much, which seems to be the main complaint by most, but the one in the OP is way too small, too much like the other Civics, and since there's not much spoiler to draw your eye to, it's now drawn to the fake vent panels. And they failed with those panels. They were bad before, but even worse now. Honda should have even spent the money after the first year (after seeing reviews) to remove them, but they definitely should have with the refresh. Come on, Honda.

Because most cars are not performance oriented or they weren’t designed with aerodynamics as a priority. And most cars have spoilers, not wings (which spoil the air coming off the rear of the car). This doesn’t create as much aerodynamic force as a wing, which has more surface area, steeper angle of attack, and creates a pressure differential above and below the wing. (High pressure above the wing, low pressure below the wing.)
Yep. Spoilers kill lift. Wings create lift. Some people call some spoilers on cars "wings" because they look like wings. Others at least correctly call them "wing style spoilers" (or just spoilers).

If you don't care about stability, you could remove the spoilers from the CTR and theoretically it would be faster.

https://www.cars.com/articles/2017-honda-civic-type-r-whats-up-with-the-wing-1420697626310/

"Most of these things come into effect above 55 or 65 mph."

I drive at 55 or above all the time. I drive at 70+ all the time. In *gasp* every day driving! And I love how the R feels at all speeds.

Your statement that the wing is "useless in every day driving" is demonstrably 100% false. It's useless to you because apparently you just sit in traffic all day. Your opinion based on your experience is one thing. If you're driving around below 55 all the time, maybe a golf cart would suit your needs better. I mean, doors are pretty useless in every day driving. They're only good when you're cornering hard enough to throw something out of your car, which wouldn't be all the time. Get some shit brakes, you shouldn't be braking that hard all the time anyways in every day driving. Get the fan delete too, you don't need a fan for half the year so it's pretty useless in every day driving.

Why don't you paste that Darwin quote on your forehead, might do some good. Posting a generic article about aftermarket spoilers from the equivalent of USA Today...get the fuck out of here.

From your article by the way - "Factory-installed spoilers on higher-end sports cars are very effective."

"They only work if they're properly installed, and even then, they only work at speeds of at least 100 km/h or more."

100kmh is only 62 mph. I don't even know what you're arguing anymore.

Yall kill me, you say im wrong with no proof yet you say you are right with the same amount of no proof..lol. areo is not a constant. 66lbs at 124 does not equally divide and mean 33lbs at 62mph. I also never said it was unless at speed.. key word at speed. Yes on a track or going 80 plus miles an hour does it job. I said it was useless in daily everyday driving. Most interstates ( I know not all) are 65mph. Now what exactly is a wing doing you at 65 mph? or in city driving? when I think we can mostly agree wing effects(depending on car and wing surface and and angle) dont come into effect till around 60 to 80? So back to my original statement that everyone is so busy arguing they total overlook. The wing is useless in everyday driving.

Anyway believe what ya want there are literally hundreds of resources and forums that will tell you wings on everyday cars are for the most part useless and only for cars that track at high speeds. believe what ya want.

but just for fun here ya go read this.. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/glo...y-improve-a-cars-performance/article21180268/ its just one of many all over the net that tells you they are useless on everyday cars. you know how to google.. do it. LOL

Too much math and physics .... I am gonna have to abandon this thread. It was fun when it was about insults and famous quotes. ;-)

The aero on the Civic creates negative lift, so whilst you may or may not like it it is functional in a positive way.

Haha, this made me chuckle, thanks for that!

left lane news is “reporting” on an instagram post showing a ‘20 ctr:

Hm... I'm not sure if that would be considered a wing or a spoiler... Though that may be what some of the arguments earlier were about...

This new spoiler and overall look is fire to me. I wish I could afford one. Like it looks so low-key now but if prompted you could smoke a motherfucker you know?

This would completely fly under the radar looking like just every other civic if released. Heck, unless you really pay attention, from a distance the Type R looks a lot like the Civic Hatch; even moreso at night. I feel like the softer exhaust note (compared to other performance cars) helps this out.
