again, I just can't comprehend how this is possible based on my experience with a rim 1.5 inches narrower and a tire 20mm narrower (albeit on a 35mm instead of your +45mm) ...........................also I'm looking into this "tab" modification
You just unscrew a screw, remove the plastic clip and bend the metal tab up. Holds the fender liner up in one spot by the side marker. I researched this pretty hard before I got my rims. I added camber and it actually runs now somewhere else but only on big bumps. Also on +35

I run oem tires with 18x9.5 et38 and I dont rub either.

First off, your car looks great!

Secondly............... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?, is my car some crazy Canadian spec or something?, literally my wheels are 1.5 inches narrower (and effectively the same offset) and I rub like mad.

Just this morning on the drive to work, I almost couldn't hear the music because of the almost non-stop rubbing.

Long before I got my 2018 Coupe Si, I was reading this forum trying to make the best decisions on mods, largely based on input from other people.

One of my main concerns has been which suspension and wheels to use together. I wanted a decent lowering and a very conservative wheel setup to guarantee no rubbing.
.
.
.
This may be a little bit of an exaggeration....., but I feel like ALOT of the Civic-Bros were posting something like:

-"I'm lowered 5 inches and I have 275/45/20's and zero rub"

-"I installed my 4" drop and 255/45/18's with 18x10 wheels and 25mm offset and I have zero rub"

-"yup, you'll be just fine with 19x12 wheels in 30mm offset and a 265wide tire, even with 2 feet of drop....."

etc....
.
.
etc....

Well, I'm here to tell you that D2 lowering springs, and factory tires on an 18x8 wheel in 35mm offset ......RUBS LIKE CRAZY. :bat:

Literally my car (mostly the front), rubs when its parked / it rubs when it drives over a grain of sand / it rubs when I sit down in it (I'm only 150lbs btw) / it rubs when it starts / it rubs when its shut-down / it rubs when I open the sunroof.......basically the front end rubs ALL THE TIME, and the rear rubs occasionally.

This is the exact OPPOSITE of what I thought would happen based on the endless replies that I read from people with the exact setup (or more aggressive setups).

Cliffs Notes version = Despite what the CivicBros might say, D2 lowering springs and 18x8's (+35mm) with factory tires.(on a 2018 Coupe Si).....WILL HELLA RUB in the front !

:dunno:
I feel your pain. I did a lot of reading on this site about muffler delete. Almost everyone stated how wonderful it was and that they experienced no drone what so ever. So after making a decision with the support of this group I headed to the muffler shop and had them delete the mufflers. What a mess !! The drone was so horrible that it hurt my ears and actually caused nausea. It lasted less than one hour and back to the muffler shop for reinstall of the original mufflers. You are now experiencing the same with the suspension system. I hope you get it corrected. We both have now learned to do more research before modifications.

I think I remember reading about your delete experience....

A couple of people have referred me to the fender tab mod, but I still don't understand how seemingly others claim to have zero issue with wheel and tire setups much more aggressive than mine.

I run about a degree and a half of negative camber, toe is oem spec. Not sure what the deal is, I rub just barely when I have the wheel turned going into steep driveways etc.

The wheels are nt03m 18x9.5 et40. I was mistaken on offset but 2mm is nothing.

I'm guessing with the d2 springs having a bigger drop than other springs it rubs more. Camber and stretching tires will help. Swift/eibach only lower 1inch while d2 is about 2inches. Notice no ones mentioned what springs they have.

Sorry to be off topic but you have never experienced drone and are the type of buyer Honda designed the whisper quiet factory exhaust we all eventually can't stand. It's a driver's car. Not supposed to lull you to sleep with zero noise whatsoever.

Im sorry i have had all types of vehicles with all kinds of different exhaust setups and you really should have bought a full electric or a hybrid if you hated it that much.

Or they deleted the resonator as well as the mufflers and you didn't know.

There is maybe a 5db increase in exhaust noise with a muffler delete only at best.

Carry on.

The camber comes in pretty aggressive after installing D2's. From what i remember its -2.5 in the rear and -1 in the front (after front guide pins removed) which in theory the wheels should fit but will rub with out the tab mod. Since 255/35 rubs then it will make sense why 235/40 as .2 inches taller. Even though it is a more narrow tire. Only difference is the canadien spec (maybe different tires than the 235/40/18 Goodyears?) but i havent read anything saying they have different fitment issues than what we see.

Side Note: So jealous of you being at streets of willow all the time! I like reading your input on handling and such since you're actually out there on the track. Too bad its such a drive for me down in San Diego lol
Also i didnt feel the need to mention im on D2's since it says it right below in my posts :dunno:haha

I got my driver's license in 1964 and have owned plenty of cars with drone, so I know what it is !!

When you say " we all " can't stand the factory exhaust --- Really ?? You're speaking for everyone ??

The resonator stayed on -- and yes-- I happen to know what one is !!

5db increase with muffler delete ?? Prove it !!

Fender tab mod is needed for any wide tire and lowering. I run swift springs and 18x9 on 255tires and only had to do the fender tab mod. Rub when I had spacers on the stock rims too. Just the front.

How's the ride with the Swift springs? Thinking about getting them.

I chose these over others since swift is a trusted name and great product. They are the upgrade spring in coilovers usually replacing eibach. They ride like stock even with a heavier spring rate. They shine in sport mode. I daily the car and have no complaints. They didn't require me to cut the bump stops like all the other springs do. I get a lot of compliments on the cars stance, the wheels help too. Aggressive but subtle. Draws the right kind of attention. there also just a tad bit lower than eibach but not slammed like d2's.

I’m running 18x9.5 +23 255/35/18 and I don’t rub unless I have passengers. I did have to roll and pull my fenders but nothing crazy lol. I’m lowered on d2 springs.
