Went to my first real AutoX this weekend at Fontana. Met another Type R driver in D-street, who was on the Motegi MR924's with RE71R's. I believe he had the Karcepts rear sway as well, but I could be mistaken.

On my stock wheel and tire setup the best I could muster was about 1.5s slower than his times.

Looking forward to getting back out there next month hopefully with proper wheels and tires!

EDIT: For anyone wondering, I had pressures set to 35/33 hot to help reduce rollover. Once I dropped fronts to 33~ I was able to shave off almost 1s.

Enjoy!

I think the difference will be within noise anyway between the new and old setting. Its more important to have the option to go softer IMO for the unpredictable Nats condition.

get that seat time and instruction if they have rookie/novice class
Thanks! I should have said, "First AutoX in my Type R". I've been doing AutoX, RallyX and Road courses for over 10 years.

I am curious about the "Novice" class. Are you able to accumulate points and go for a championship jacket in Novice? I feel like I'd be cheating..

If you've been doing this for 10 years, you would be :)

I haven't run an AutoX in quite some time, been focusing on RallyX and road courses/time attack. Guess I'll saddle up for D-Street.

The "allowable" mods that i know of are: intake filter, front pipe, exhaust, 19" wheels, and rear sway bar. Is there anything else that is specifically allowable for Street Class, and/or D-Street? The rulebook is so long these days, I'm sure I missed something somewhere.

opps, my mistake. we started rookie class (on oahu) after my first year autox'n in 2014 (just my luck :D). all first year drivers are grouped into one class (similar to pax). it's quite competitive actually and our biggest class every year.

your are correct on the allowable mods. just remember your wheels must be +/- 7mm in offset from the oe 20s. you can check my build thread for DS and STU mods.

Thanks Felipe! I'll check your thread for inspiration. I'm planning on the Motegi MR924's and Federal RS-PRO 265/35/19 so I should be within spec.

Congratulations to Mike Leeder for winning DS at the SCCA Nationals this year. Anybody that ran against him at local events is not surprised! He was 34th out of 1274 drivers in PAX. Way to go Mike. What are you going to do next year?

we shall see. might defend and keep the car, might trade it in for a yellow one... might sell it outright. not 100% sure yet.

though winning has made it a lot more complicated. I now actually have some sentimental value to this car.
