But how haven't you ruined the transmission with those numbers man?
because the stupid video everyone holds as gospel contains no actual info or power number as to what made that cvt break. In fact, they actually have no clue at all what level will break a cvt

Weak CVT here. FBO and on e85 mix for 292whp/258wtq tuned by DRob at IMW.

Right now best bang for buck will be between flex fuel and dp.

No more proof needed. The graph clearly says "weak".
Don't misunderstand me, no hate to the platform. Just that I won't do that on that kind of transmission.

Can you see how the tune keeps the torque relatively flat up to the red line?

You can clearly see how much higher is the max hp compared to the maximum torque. This is a tune trick to protect the block or like in this case the CVT.
You know why?
Because is weak.

Manual cars with this engine is the other way around. Max torque is much higher than Max HP.

Plus I don't know if that dyno reads low or high but dynapacks are notorious for being high readers.

Read the numbers any way you want. But I have news for you. Max torque will easily f up a stock clutch, too. That's a fact. xjoshuax89's numbers are outstanding. That torque curve both protects the transmission and offers plenty of oomph.

@D-RobIMW dyno is the most real dynapak out there, lower than others. His was mostly in line with what Vits was when he did this stuff. and sure the transmission is weaker than a manual but this is by no means a weak tune. It's a good "safe" tune for the car. Now, if you have nothing constructive to say here, why don't you just move along. The rest of us will use this informational thread to continue our builds.

To ma toe / To may toe.

CVT obviously isnt as strong as a manual but still some decent potential in it. Not sure how it is a trick it's just ensuring you dont overload it down low.

In regards to dyno numbers obviously you cant rely on that alone. Which is also why I took it to the drag strip.

With similar mods I was able to put down 13.340 @107.88. Havent seen others with a 6mt put down similar numbers to mine.

Cvt isnt as strong as a MT but isnt as weak as many might think it is.

So what's your 0-100 now with that power?
Thats not my car, but if you look at his timeslips, he trapped 107 in 13.4 seconds so you could say 0-100 was in the 12s and considering the stock ext ran a 1/4 in 15.4 at 92 mph its considerably faster

Dallas. He's Canadian (kph) and wanting to basically know 0-60 mph times. I know my best was like 5.7 seconds with the aggressive Starter 21 and the TSP may be even quicker.

Nope and doing so is odd. You have a massive restriction with the factory down pipe. Going with flex with a factory dp isnt going to net you much.
Okay good to know. Follow-up question for you about your downpipe. I've heard they can be pretty dangerous to our CVTs because of the early torque they help generate. Are they dangerous without a tune even? Or is that only with a bad tune?

Edit: would a DP be dangerous with TSP stage 1 is a big question of mine?

Last but not least, show me these 10th gen tunes where "Max torque is much higher than Max HP".
True lots of torque mess up the stock clutch but that is easy to fix with an upgraded one. Tell me what you can upgrade on your CVT?
Well at least we agree that the tune protects the transmission because is weak and it can't handle as much as a manual one with a proper aftermarket clutch.

Dyno sheets for the 1.5T platform is filled with tuned dyno graphs in where max torque is higher than max hp. All SI tunes with stock turbo follow the same trend. A trend that is typical on engines with a tiny turbo that spool up quick.

For example TSP Stage 1 for the SI
182whp / 206tq - Factory Calibration
208whp / 258tq - KTuner Starter 23psi
237whp / 281tq - TSP Stage 1 Tune

I don't think anyone was ever arguing against a 6MT being able to take more than a CVT, people are just saying that the CVT seems to be more robust than people were originally saying...

Here's what I don't understand... all those manual guys saying that the CVT is a shit transmission. And keep in mind I've bought manual cars much more often then automatics. Matter of fact my CRX, Integra, and previous Civic were manuals.

Sure, the CVT can't handle massive amounts of torque but it seems to be handling the 219 whp / 250 tq from the TSP Stage 1 rather well. Sure, D-Rob reduced the torque down low to protect the CVT. But, I for one don't peel out from a start and rolling starts are plenty quick. And the top end is awesome.

This is my first CVT so I can't speak about other cars CVT's. The Accord based CVT plays damn well with the 1.5 turbo in this Civic.

Is there a big difference between catted and catless downpipe?

yeah and you wont be able to find catless downpipes much anywhere anymore. EPA is cracking down on manufacturers as well as sellers.
