Wont matter what anyone does. Tesla is just handing any car their ass at a track. Electric is the new drag car.
That ain't a lie lol

Drag racing isn't really something Im into but I think American/Japanese/Euro even Korean cars these days, we should celebrate all our car loving brethren whatever they drive and whatever part of motorsport they are into. Especially those that go to a track and do it legally!

As far as drag racing specifically, Im always much more impressed by cars with a mix of abilities, i.e they could do well at a circuit too. A licensed street car that can turn corners but do a 10-11-12 Qtr is much more impressive to me than something that just does that even if it much faster.
Yeah, we've built an "all-arounder" before with an s2k, ran 10.5 qt and did track events for road course, though it was not street legal sadly... My drag CTR build will be street legal, just like my drag c5 vette

Very true at the moment I try staying stock because I am the kind of person once I start increasing power I am never satisfied so I will end up doing a drag build aswell lol. Either way man if you do it looking forward to seeing the progress and in a way I take back what I say because everyone always does the same shit doing the old hatch builds you doing a type r drag build will be something different which is a good thing! The old hatch builds are badass but we have seen it many times already
Same here haha and yeah I plan on posting a drag build post, when I start getting things, though is will be a lengthy build as money is hard to come by sometimes lol

I think it mostly comes down to the fact that to optimize for drag racing it would be best to replace the rear wheels with skinny versions, downsize the brakes, rip the aero off, and stiffen the rear springs to the point that it doesn't handle as well, etc.

So to make the car better for one specialized task, drag racing, you'd be undoing all the hard fought engineering from one of the largest car companies in the world. Their best engineers worked to make the car a great performer in a more general setting, the Nurburgring, which requires braking, aero, power, and handling, a much more complicated dance.

It's reasonable to say that a balance between that task and street driving is what makes a Type R, a Type R. So why people love the Type R is tied up with track driving, and perhaps should be. And just as a note, the Nurburgring is bumpy and narrow so to be fast there often makes the car an enjoyable mountain road car too, so even those who will never drive on track have good reason to like the car because of its Nurburgring tuned pedigree.

A car is what you make it  the corvettes were made for the same style racing as the CTR but they now after replacing all the track stuff for drag stuff, they dominate the drag strip so much that people actually believe thats what they are built for from factory lol

uummmm, because its CIVIC?

when i hear the word honda, or the word civic, the first two words that pop into my head are economy, and reliability,

the last word i would think of would be performance,

if i was buying a car for performance, or for drag, i wouldn't be buying a civic...actually, i wouldn't even be buying a honda
Had me goin' for a minute there :)

The CTR produces so much downforce, at speed it'll just be slowing you down. If you want to drag race the car, take off the wing.
I drag race my Si and it doesn't do terrible with some bolt ons and good tires.

You can make any car go fast in a straight line.
But can you make a car go fast in a corner bordering 2.00 lateral G's?
It's two completely different animals.
Not only does the CTR have the severe disadvantage being heavy, and FWD, it also has aero that is made to help it corner at speed; and with downforce, comes drag/reduced speed.
I wouldn't call 66 lbs of downforce at 124 MPH a lot, but yes, removing the wing would aid those seeking optimal DR performance.

I bought my CTR for a fun daily driver and to take it to the track once in awhile. Doing drag racing never crossed my mind, and why would it?? I had a 993 911 Turbo with 600hp and 595 ft/lbs torque. Just about everyone from a standstill would beat me in the first 60 feet, after that " see ya " all the way to ( if I was crazy enough to do it) 200+ mph!! Is the 993 turbo a drag car? I think not, even with all its capabilities

Nothing wrong with drag racing, that is a lot of what got car culture started.

Just as it is fun for a manufacturer to take something with economy roots and
make a driver's car out of it, it is fun and very cool for someone to take that stock auto and
squeeze more performance out of it. More fun that just buying something fast stock and
doing nothing.
