When I first installed HH, it worked like a bootleg phone - super laggy, random freezes.
Then I understood that you really can't stress the head unit with literally any extra software that wasn't on it before you installed HH. (This is not a HH problem; it's your car's fault for having a wack ass outdated processor in it's head unit)

Then I did the following:

Update to 5.10 thru HH install apps submenu
Delete Google Services immediately - You don't need it for anything. Literally. You already have your phone in the car so why stress head unit with the same info.
Clear Memory in HH settings
Set your desired options in HH menu (rear cam button hotmap / intro vid / audible alert settings - etc etc.
Reboot system

Doing so gave me be a super smooth & snappy experience like it originally was before the hack with all the added features of HH.

Can y'all chime in on whether or not viper4android works when playing audio via carplay? Obviously it will over Bluetooth and I don't expect it to via carplay, but you never know...

Looking forward to installing 5.0.10 in the next few days when I can catch a break from the wife & kids! Button remapping is what I really want out of it.

*Edit*
Just wanted to chime in and say that it DOES work when using carplay!

Are you running viper4android from your phone or you installed it directly on to the HU?

Viper4android was included in a rooted ROM i had on a jellybean LG. Never really had the opportunity to mess with it. But with all the hoopla and raves about it. Sounds like it'd be pretty dope in this situation.

This doesn’t work with the base stereo system correct?
It should, just make sure your car is compatible on his website at autohack.org.

What else can I do with this? Is there a complete spec list?
There is no full detailed instruction manual or wiki per se. There is more information if you search on XDA.com and the developer has included basic instructions and features at autohack.org as well

Does this update solve USB, apple car play problema? Also bluetooth bugs?
?‍♀

Can I global close the windows and sunroof with this hack?
Not at this time. Maybe in the future.

I am not affiliated with this dev or his work. I am also not a developer, programmer, hacker, of any way shape or form.

Edit: not trying to scare anyone, just my 0.023 cents.

First, realize this dude is the only person (far as I know) that has been able to find a rooting method as well as managed to package it in a way that is deployable via the factory units own web browser. I have no idea how that works, but it's a work of genius.

Understand that as with many in this "line of work" this is probably a hobby and not what pays the bills. Time is money, as we all know. So know that support will be limited.

Now, if you are not familiar with rooting, jailbreaking or had experience installing custom ROMs, side loading apps, android backup and recovery.. then you do not know how much of a headache you may be inviting in the near future.

My advice would be this: If you have never felt the pain of bricking a phone you cared about while rooting and playing with it.

Go do that first.

Then, maybe do on your $20k+ vehicle.

^^^ honda hacked for over a year and nothing but great performance day in day out. we wrote a lot of tips and guidelines on what to do to have things run fast and smooth with no lags in our fb group and how-to tips.

it's fine for average users. no need to scare them from enjoying some cool things.

#1 reason for bricking he head unit? it's impatient users who don't wait for the install to finish in about 5+ mins and click things.

Can you factory reset the head unit back to OEM?
Check out this post:
https://www.civicx.com/threads/factory-reset-of-headunit.19637/

There's a link in there on how to do the reset on a 2016 sedan. I've never done it, so I would make sure it applies to your car.
Careful because ["reboot" aka hold power
for 5 +seconds] and ["reset" aka factory reset] are very different but people tend to use them interchangeably.

Also, http://www.autohack.org/how-to-recover-your-system-if-it-fails-to-start/

Which I assume can only mean "recover to OEM" although I could be wrong, as I haven't tried a reset myself.

Let us know how it goes for you.

I bought the Honda Hack but my Head Unit doesn't come with a web browser :/

Edit: I found a tutorial so I will that.

I don't really want to start with you, but I have to address this. Your use of opinion as if it was fact has the potential to mislead and misguide others.

Erring on the side of caution is not a scare tactic. Warning people with the intent of preventing them from mistakes is called caring about others it's a selfless act. Now the opposite of caring about others is called selfish and goes something like this: hey, you're going to enjoy some cool things with this, there is nothing to be scared about because look at me and how great it's been for me for years!!!

If I had to say what the #1 reason for bricking it would be: not taking the extra effort to read up about this beyond the "some cool things". That's where the real impatience is.

ANY responsible person would agree it best be prudent in the matters of rooting phones, how much more so with a car?

The amount of people posting issues strongly suggests this is not just fine for average Joe's, I would not have felt the need to post some tips and warnings if this was the case. The motivation here is helping others, of it scares you well.. then maybe it should as that is one of the inevitable results of warnings.

I'll end with this, as this will probably turn into a online argument when there is nothing to argue about here.

I am not attacking you here. if you feel I am attacking or feel the need to get defensive. Pause, and think if a stranger gave you constructive criticism. Would you take it and grow from it, or retreat to the safety of ego-centricity and self rightousness?

Some food for thought: Giving advice, comments, or insight that is based SOLELY on personal experience and anecdotal evidence demonstrates immaturity, ego-centricity and a lack of altruism. It also suggests lack of accountability for and to others.

For example, if what you said resulted in a good outcome for someone, you definately want the credit. But if what you said resulted in a bad outcome for someone, then you deny any responsibility with "hey, it was your choice, not mine" "I didn't make you do it" kinda attitude.

You are the OP, yet constructive comments are severly lacking. I did not see you helping out your fellow drivers in answering thier questions. Rather u responded afterwards with a personal testimony and critique of my post for users to proceed at their own risk. Not very helpful for anyone tbh.

You know what though, it's never too late really be helpful to others. Like how about pointing people with links to all that helpful stuff you mentioned. Otherwise it's really just pointless to everyone else.

I've spent too much time on this, and won't be responding any further here
unless its purpose is to help and promote sound knowledge.
Ive been restraining from posting every time I see constructive criticism or drama just because half way through my reply I say “is not worthy” and delete everything. On this forum we all get a nickname dont assume you know the person by their posts or by what you see on their garage pictures. I dont know the guy personally but Ive been talking with him since he bought his car. Im not going to disclose anything but you and everyone should do their homework first before assuming and say he has no background helping people (I had to laugh sorry). Not attacking you or anyone and surely not defending him.
