17 Civic 1.5T was sitting a couple of days in airport parking and on start up it threw up the Check Engine light with Emissions Evap message. I got the ODB2 read and it popped up those two codes. I called service at dealership and they didn't seem to know too much other than i should drop the car off for a couple of days to get checked out. I was reading online, it appears the Vapor Canister Purge Valve is the most likely culprit. Anyone have a link to the part # or source for one. Anoyone with experience with this issue? TIA

First thing I would check is the flap seal on fuel tank filler tube.

My 18 EX Hatch is still under the bumper to bumper warranty. I just don’t want to get shafted when I go into the dealer and they try to steal my money over something stupid. I’m not the biggest car guy, so I definitely can’t call bullshit on what they tell me about the evap system.

If it’s under warranty then you should not have to pay for anything not even the diagnostic inspection it’s all covered under warranty, parts included. The only time they charge you is if they can prove you are at fault for causing the damage. Now if one dealership says they won’t do the repairs (which I highly doubt) just shop around at other dealerships, some are more aggressive at denying warranty stuff than others. It all comes down to how much they care about customers and not profits since each dealer has different managers. Just make sure the CEL is on with the code so they can pull it with their reader, if the code isn’t showing then it’s harder for them to repair it since you’ll have to “replicate the issue”, but it’s still good practice to take it in regardless. They won’t be able to do anything because it wasn’t replicated, but there would be written proof of the occurrence so when it happens again.

If your car is under warranty, take it to the dealer.
Good luck

Thanks for the advice (Jayy_swish too). I made an appointment with my dealer for service drop off Thursday Night with service being on Friday. I will keep y’all updated with how this plays out and what parts need to be replaced if they do opt to fix it for me!

On warranty it's no brainer: let them fix it and they don't usually deny this kind of warranty repairs. All they could accuse you of doing, if they really cared to try, is overfilling the fuel tank (did you do it?) . After warranty it's a completely different ball of wax. I had this kind or similar EVAP system code in my CRV and drove with it for at least a year, until I gave the car to my personal wife and she wouldn't take delivery with the CEL light coming on and off. This can have many reasons, but some are much more common then others. The dealer threatened substantial costs to pretend to trace it down, while it was easy to find out what was wrong and fix it by myself at the parts cost of less than $30.

So when I brought the car in for service I flashed my ECU back to stock from the TSP stage 1 (I was paranoid they’d see I tuned it and void my warranties) and with that the check engine code and history of the code was cleared so I ended up getting nothing fixed

here’s to riding around on the factory tune until the light comes back on!:banghead:

They did. My codes usually throw when I reach half a tank remaining. I found that the cause of the codes is something pierced a hole in my valve canister by my rear axle on the passenger side.

gonna try to patch the hole this weekend with some epoxy or something to try to avoid buying a new part

Let me know how it goes, the same codes popped up for me and I’ve been trying to figure it out for a few months now. I’ve already changed the canister but it came back

When I got quoted for the replacement at Honda I was also advised to replace the CVS Valve. Did you replace that as well?

Yup also changed that, I think I might bring it to the dealership this weekend. I’m hoping it’s not the tank

You may just need to take it somewhere to get the code locked to your computer erased. I know on my OBD-2 scanner it has two codes locked to the car that need to be erased by a Honda scan tool (maybe a good body shop has one capable of this. Not entirely sure.)

if you have an OBD-2 try scanning the codes again and clearing them to see if two remain that cannot be cleared with an OBD-2
