I'm searching the Web about my 19 coupe sport cvt motor I read that the type r is also 2.0 vtec.i know it has better internals but it's pushing 300 + hp.i can't see why my 2.0 wouldn't be able to handle another 20 hp or even the trans.

The sport should have 201 hp the si should have 250 hp
I just don't want to blow my motor and it won't be under warranty

Naturally aspirated you aren't going to see any gains at all.
Perhaps miniscule numbers like 1-5 horsepower but nothing substantial that you'll actually feel like the turbo cars.
Although the 2.0 in the Type R makes 300HP, its a completely different engine from inside to out.
If you wanted power, you should've bought another car.

To be fair you should be able to add an extra 20 HP without creating any issues. The question is; How do you plan to gain the extra HP?

As alright mentioned, the 2.0L Type-R engine is MUCH different; reinforced internal parts, etc.
There is nothing the same about the two engines, other than "2.0L" text.

Honda is being very conservative with the engine and transmission, on both the 1.5T and 2.0 NA.

KTuner has been playing around with a 2.0L Civic, and they are seeing some power gains.

At the end of the day, it's the CVT transmission that will fail first before the engine -- the CVT transmission can only handle so much torque before it starts slipping, etc.

Fun fact, my CVT Hatch with Full bolt ons and a custom tune handled more torque without slipping for over 30k miles than my SI which has 1600 miles and is already slipping in 4th and 5th.

EDIT: My Si is bone stock + FMIC and a ktuner basemap.
The hatch was full bolt ons + custom tune with ktuner.

I know it's a different motor but it's still a 2.0 4 banger, and yes ktuner is almost getting that much hp out of the 2.0.not to be rude but I hate when someone says u should bought a faster car. Humans could by a lambo and they will mod it.im just saying it would be a great car if I can get close to 200 hp that's it.also just want to hear from guys that have a tune

Won't be long before coo1rim comes along and tells the OP how a 2.0 N/A can beat a CTR, much less the slower, inferior 1.5Ts.
Won't be hard most people can't drive worth a shit

I have the KTuner tune on my 2.0 CVT and I can say for sure it totally changes the car. There is much more power up top, the engine is way more eager to rev, the lowered VTEC is very noticable, throttle response is dramatically improved, and the engine sounds great as you rev it out. It's obviously not blisteringly quick or anything, but the car doesnt feel slow at all, it made my economy commuter car pretty fun. Bottom line, acceleration and the HP gains are noticeable. Side note, I have multiple people who have sat in my car and have heard it rev up top, and they have all made comments about how it sounds surprisingly great for something lowkey like a Civic.

People are always going to dog the vehicle they didn’t get. But take it from someone who bought both the 2.0 NA 6mt and the 1.5t CVT. They are both quick. I bought the 2.0 because I love the old school fast revving Vtec. Yes this Vtec is not the same as the older generation. But Honda improved on it to give it more useable low end torque. You don’t have to wrap it out to get it to move. Now the 1.5t is a more smooth delivering engine that can be more pleasant to drive. I bought my girl the 1.5t so she can enjoy the smoothness of the engine, while I got the 2.0 for myself because I like the sound and revving of the NA motor. I have only upgraded to better tires and ktuned my car and I’m gonna tell ya do not underestimate the 2.0 because it’s rides right next to the 1.5t. I don’t know about the CVT 2.0 but matched with the 6mt it is a great combo just like the 1.5t CVT is a great combo. I will soon make a video of what this car can do. I know the 1.5t can be tuned to, but I don’t want to stress the CVT.
