Refreshed 2020 Civic Si

The LED headlights and blind spot monitoring system are two things I was disappointed MY2019 didn't have when I was shopping. Now that I’ve had the car for two months I’ve not missed them nearly as much as I thought.

Cool additions, but I’m not going to lose any sleep. Now if they had added 25hp or something like that...

I think the rt side camera is better than the blind spot monitoring. I keep my mirrors properly positions for blind spots anyway and then with the extra rt hand camera, im okay.

Agreed on the headlights and any power increase.

Meh.

Styling changes are all lateral, imo. I like black wheels and these are attractive, but I prefer the current gen's, I think.

Sensing? Okay. I've learned to live without it just fine. Rather have $700.

Six percent shorter final drive? Man, gearing is plenty short already. Now that first shift from a stop around a corner will come up even faster, and we'll be cruising at 3400 instead of 3200 rpm. No thanks. And we're not fooled, Honda -- this is no substitute for more power.

(Thanks for not adding more power, btw. Helps preserve the value of MY17-19's.)

I actually don't mind artificial sound enhancement when it's done well. And the Si could sure use it. Does anyone know enough about the technology to guess whether it could be retrofitted?

I’ve been really surprised how useful the mirror camera is. Super useful when I’m making lane changes to exit the highway.

The multi-angel rear camera does a decent job of rear-cross traffic.

And whoa -- the red strip along the front of the dash would be an automatic dealbreaker. Honda dug back to the 80s for that one.

The gearing change is fascinating. I’m still trying to find the sweet spot for the car where it feels really peppy and energetic. Sometimes the car feels really lively and other times it feels pretty dire. I have a feeling I’m living too low in the rev range. I know peak torque is a flat range across like 3000rpms, but peak horsepower is closer to the top end. I wonder if the new gearing will help the car feel more lively more of the time in a noteworthy fashion.

I like the new wheels... don't care for the vents. Indifferent about the headlights. No comment on the sensing as I've never had it.. I think .. unless that beep beep crap on the Odyssey is that for when a car in front is too close... but with it they added auto braking.

Final drive lowering is interesting. Willingly giving up MPGs for acceleration without increasing engine output. 0-60s will probably be virtually unchanged due to the 2nd shift. 1/4 mile and 0-100 should be better since either one was early/Midway into 4th *but* since summer tires are no longer a factory option... unless they test will dealer add-on summers... they won't match the summer tire instrumented tests I the 17-19.

With CAFE being what it is and economy numbers being so important ... I'm surprised they've given in it. I think it's probably because of things like that Elantra N and the MK8 GTI to where they need to try to get it to be a little quicker to stay competitive. Both those competitors still won't likely match MPGs... even with the drop.

(EDIT: Looks like they brought the factory summer tire for '20!)

- Rims: Pretty nice. I kinda like the current ones though. I'd have to see them in person to say 100% either way
- Headlights and sensing: Great upgrade
- Red accents on seats and dash: Not feeling it at all
- New bumper: Not sure yet

Man, and I just got a 2019 si in April. I'm liking the new rims, though I'm not digging the new red on the seats or dash.

And although I'm running a 55w HID kit, it would be nice to have factory LED lamps and fogs rather than having to deal with the hassle with an after-market kit.

Curious how the gearing will affect overall feel of driving.

The destination fee went up ... It's a hidden cost ... I would have to find my 2019 window sticker but it's like 80 to 120 more dollars now. Can some one confirm?

Happy that I got a '19 in July! The new wheels and LED lamps look good, but I can't stand Honda Sensing. Also, that new bumper looks kind of weird to me

CAR AND DRIVER is reporting slightly revised gearing for better acceleration

If the headlamps are the same LED ones on the ‘19 R’s, then they’ll be pretty damn good. The low beam LED headlights on my ‘19 R have just about the same throw and intensity as the Morimoto HID’s that I had on my ‘17 SI (but without being blinding to oncoming drivers).

I can also appreciate the final drive ratio and sound enhancements. I found that I couldn’t use 6th gear on my SI until I was going at least 65, or I’d have to shift down to pick up even a small bit of speed. The shorter gearing on the R makes 6th much easier to use in day to day driving, so I think that the SI will benefit from this. I am majorly jealous of the sound enhancements though. I know that it’s fake, but it could be really cool if done correctly.

the new touring lamps are supposedly revised to be wider and brighter for the 2020 so i'm sure the si will be getting the "revised" version.

i like the seats, i like the final drive change, i like honda sensing.
i don't like the fake grille changes. It doesn't make it any better. I also hate the wheels. I like the current wheels.
