I shamefully did this to my Civic and the lamp post won by a large margin! Nobody hurt thankfully.

What are my hopes of the car ever being the same again? A local body shop that a Honda dealership use will be doing the repairs via my insurance company.

The drivers door doesn't meet anymore at the top as closely and the tracking is out as the front wheel had a scrape!

It is a right ole mess! I'm parking it 'good side out' whenever possible as it's embarrassingly trashed!

Has anyone had any experience of what to expect from repairs on this kind of damage?

I've heard things from, "You'll never tell" to "it'll never be the same again".

Before and after mine after some idiot T-boned me, everything LOOKS amazing again and no one can ever tell, but the door does feel the slightest bit different when opening it, small price to pay though, best of luck

That's pretty light damage considering what I was expecting by the topic. You wont be able to tell once repaired. Replace the fender, some door skins, paint and re-align. Done.

Thanks for this, makes me feel better. It was just 'perfect' before my prang so I really hope the bodyshop do a good job of it. I've had body shop work done before and have had mixed results. One took three attempts to get it right - 1st time paint match was too dark, 2nd time overspray was obvious, 3rd time they resprayed the whole side and it was great.

I wonder what it is with your door that feels different? Is it less smooth?

Its hard to describe, just when pulling the handle from the inside it just feels a tiny bit off, but nothing to complain about really
