Has anyone installed an aftermarked sub/amp with the stock head? I've got a Scosche LOC that I would like to use to tap for a signal to the amp. Can anyone recommend a good place to tap into for a good signal? Would this be a recommended route? Thanks for all the info.

Behind the head unit of your RCAs are long enough.

It seems as though if I would be tapping into (presumably) speaker wires at the back of the HU then why not do it further down the line so to speak. Is there any reason not to just tap into the rear speaker wire in the trunk?

The sound signal on the rear speaker is not as full range as the front. Try to get a T-harness from Axxess if you can that way you don’t have to splice anything. AX-DSP-HON2. And make sure either your LOC or your amp has some type of system where you can mitigate bass roll-off or your bass won’t be loud the more you turn the volume up

I have a bass controller that I plan on using to help mitigate some of these issues (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AV5ZHG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

ah ok. if you can return your Scosche LOC and get an LC2i from Audiocontrol, that would be significantly better. It'll have "accubass" to restore that bass and its not a passively powered LOC like what you have. You'll have a much more clean input to the amp AND provide a remote turn on coming out of the LC2i.

My current system is an AX-DSP mounted right behind the head unit taking in Hi inputs and processes and SUMS the range. Then its Lo (rca out) to my amplifiers ACM-4.300 for the 2 sets of 2ohm components and ACM-1.300 (with Accubass) for my RF P3 10". The HPF and LPF is done by the DSP so each signal going into the amplifiers are already as clean as it can be with the current setup

When I was designing the whole system, I planned on getting the plate. But the way I have everything mounted under the seats, it wouldn't be practical when i need to take some screws off to adjust the gains and what not. Here's what it looks like when i need to adjust things. Scuffboys™ in the house!

Aww, well technically it is less screws to remove the bigger plate. If you ever decide to get the plate let me know. I've got 5 on it!

Second the AudioControl LOC option. Can’t go wrong with their products, I went with the LC6i, it’s tapped into read of head unit. Might be useful if you want to add a second amp and maintain fader control.

The metal seat frame. no padding on the back of the seat, so it's easy to find them.

Did you drill a hole first or did you just say f it just drive a wood screw through the seat frame?
