Looks similar to what I have done so far. Nice job! Are you going to market it? I may sell a Carbon fiber version.

If anyone wants cooler engine bay temps, you can just remove the aluminum pan underneath as an option.
Made a prototype awhile ago. Even with oil cooler, water wetter, larger grill, yada yada couldnt keep the car cool on track. Selling it for something different

Ok so it does indeed have the "louver effect" when air passes over it?
I'd have to have a wind tunnel or some yarn at speed testing to answer with conviction but my belief is it will have air come out, in the very least it will have a turbulent affect and air will be moving versus not moving.

I know it is an aerodynamic compromise but did you try removing the belly pan?

Did you cut the tray? Why not just remove the uselepart all together since you’ve modified the “scoop”.
Which tray do you mean? The upper scoop piece I guess you mean. Yes, that is another method ("tray removal") I may try when creating a forward bump of carbon fiber to enhance the vacuum/extraction of the heated air.
Good idea Brother:thumbsup:

Hey, do u think hood pins are necessary?
I saw that the hood latch on the varis hood is just held in by 2 screws as opposed to the 4 10mm bolts on the oem hood.

I'd hate to cut into a Varis CF hood.. But at the same time I don't want that junk flying open.

Most of my driving is 80mph cruising on highway.

Or if you get a little froggy one night and have it fly open at 100+. Or any track day. I wouldn’t risk it

Yes any carbon or light weight hood should have at least 2 hood pins

MY personal experience —
I dont have any hood pins. I’ve done 3 track days with it, speeds up to 130mph.. i do hit “certain” speeds on the freeway, too... the hood has been solid.
I’ve seen 1 person on FB or IG with hood pins on their Varis hood.
End of the day, i couldn’t tell you what will make you feel safe.. do what gives you peace of mind. I’m perfectly fine with mine not having any hood pins.

Yea I think I'll just run it without pins but I'll check the latch here and there. It's Varis so I'm sure it's solid.
When I look up #varisjapan on Instagram I see like 1 out of 50 guys running hood pins lol

Think I just set a record for shortest wait for Varis stuff... 27 days.

Got a call and my hood is in and on the way to me. Will be here in the next 7-10 days at my door.

:confused1:
Can't wait to see it and am excited for you

I'm excited too but nervous!
I have to decide very soon...

1. Do I run hood pins
2. Leave it bare CF with xpel
3. Paint everything championship white minus the vents
4. Wrap everything but the vents in matte black and wrap roof matte black

:dunno:

Oooh man those are all the same questions I keep asking myself in theory if I decide to ever pull the trigger and get the wet carbon one. Can't image how I would be if I did purchase. Think myself I would get it painted minus the vents but that would lead to the next question...... where would I take it and trust someone to do it the right way and match the paint well (in my case CBP)
