Stock sound system just isn't doing it for me (recommendations)

Hi all - so I just purchased an '19 four door Si a few months ago. Being that I am keeping this car fro 5-9 years I would like to have a nice quality setup. Speakers are already in the car, nothing impressive, but the woofer in my honest opinion is a joke. I feel like my '09 8th Gen Si was better quality, maybe I am wrong?

I would like to go with a woofer of some sort that is better quality and goes in place of where the stock one is, or have a stealthy setup in the trunk somewhere. Maybe there is a OEM woofer from Honda/Acura or even another manufacturer? I am looking for some more punch, but without the two 12's in the back limiting my space for cargo.

Any recommendations would be helpful. Maybe I should man up and just live with the stock system :]

I rooted my head unit and installed Viper4Android, a sound processing app. It really helps a lot, and has a huge range of customizability for frequency ranges and bass boost, etc.

From reading through lots of these threads (the 2019 Si system sucks!), it definitely seems worthwhile to install an aftermarket sub and amp, even a small one. Install seems really straightforward; you can even keep the crappy stock sub also if you wish.

Some other members have reported replacing the front middle speaker with a better unit also helps the "tinny/raspy" sound we seem to have. I ordered a JBL speaker and will be installing it next week, so I'll be curious to see how much it helps!

I missed this part. If you really plan to keep the car for a long, long time, do some searching on installing a DSP (such as JL Audio FiX 86), as opposed to only adding a sub or replacing speakers.

Ahh that does not sound too bad, (pun intended lol), I am curious what sub people have used. Again I am not looking for a banger by any means just a good quality woofer.

This could be a viable option.

I've seen underseat options like https://www.civicx.com/threads/installed-under-seat-subwoofer-in-an-si-sedan.30141/ and https://www.civicx.com/threads/subwoofer-recommendation.19553/#post-327249

Personally I think I will just get a powered sub like https://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p300-12/ and install it in the trunk - easy to remove if you need to sell/trade in, and easy to tap the wires to the factory sub (or so I've been told).

I had a very similar unit in 2 of my old cars and it was perfect - great deep bass for normal listening, but plenty of childish thumping if you wanted it and turned the bass up.

I love both options.. hmm... the hidden one is very nice, but the larger one (which I use to have in my EVO 8) surely did the job and had plenty of fun thudding! I will do some measurement too, both are graet options thank you. I def want to replace the speak in the dash, that little guy is cheap.

I just installed a Sound Ordinance B-8PTD under my driver seat. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-ajVqOMEFRmd/p_777B8PTD/Sound-Ordnance-B-8PTD.html

It sounds great for the price. Once I figured everything out, install was pretty easy. I'm also using Viper4Android just for more control.

In addition to what's already been posted, I found that putting high efficiency components in the doors (mine are 93db) and a lower efficiency center channel (85db) along with good install materials (fast rings, foam tape, mat) made a HUGE difference.

Also, don't forget to shim up there rear deck once you get your sweet bass rocking. That rattle is the worst

What speakers did you put in the doors? Did you swap the tweeters or no?

I just ordered this along with a foam baffle for the front middle/dash speaker: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001UDNXOQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You're right, I just came from a 07 Si Coupe to a 2019 Si Coupe 2 weeks ago. The older system was definitely louder, had more bass and the speakers in this car sound muffled or tin can(ny).

I pretty much listen to NPR (exciting, huh?), so it's adequate for me
